**Job Title: Senior Shopify Developer** **Position Overview** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced **Senior Shopify Developer** to lead the architecture, development, and optimization of our enterprise-level e-commerce platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for building bespoke Shopify themes, architecting custom public and private apps, and driving technical excellence across our digital storefronts. As a Grade 11 senior leader, you will mentor junior engineers, define technical standards, and collaborate closely with product, design, and marketing teams to deliver seamless user experiences. **Key Responsibilities** + **Technical Leadership:** Architect and scale high-volume, secure Shopify Plus stores and custom commerce applications. + **Storefront Development:** Build and maintain custom Shopify themes from scratch using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Hydrogen/Remix). + **App Architecture:** Design, build, and deploy reliable custom Shopify apps using Node.js, Python, or Ruby on Rails. + **Performance Optimization:** Diagnose and resolve complex performance, SEO, and accessibility issues to ensure lightning-fast page speeds and high conversion rates. + **Integrations:** Build seamless integrations between Shopify and third-party systems, including ERPs, CRMs, OMS, fulfillment providers, and payment gateways. + **Mentorship & Governance:** Conduct rigorous code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and mentor a team of mid-level and junior developers.



**Required Experience & Qualifications** **Overall E-commerce & Software Engineering** + **8+ years** of professional software development experience. + **6+ years** of dedicated, hands-on experience working directly within the **Shopify ecosystem** (Themes, Admin, API). **Shopify Technical Deep Dive** + **5+ years** of experience developing custom, data-driven **Shopify Themes** using Liquid, JavaScript, and Tailwind CSS / SASS. + **4+ years** of experience building custom **Shopify Apps** (Public or Private) utilizing Shopify Admin APIs (REST and GraphQL) and Webhooks. + **2+ years** of experience working with **Shopify Plus** enterprise features (such as Shopify Functions, Checkout Extensibility, B2B features, and advanced scripting). + **2+ years** of experience with headless commerce architectures, specifically using **Shopify Hydrogen and Remix** or Next.js with the Storefront API. **Complementary Technical Skills** + **5+ years** of experience with up-to-date JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Node.js backend services). + **4+ years** of experience working with relational or non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB). + **5+ years** of experience with version control systems (Git) and deploying applications via automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS). **Preferred Skills & Certifications** + Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment. + Strong understanding of e-commerce business metrics, conversion rate optimization (CRO), and UX/UI principles. + Official **Shopify Certifications** (e.g., Shopify Theme Developer or Shopify App Developer) are highly desirable.
