JOB DESCRIPTION – SEWING TRAINEE

1. Job Details

Job Title: Sewing Trainee
Department: Production – Sewing
Reports To: Sewing Supervisor / Line In-Charge / Production Manager
Location: Manufacturing Unit
Employment Type: Full-Time

2. Job Purpose

To undergo practical training in garment sewing operations and develop the skills required to operate industrial sewing machines safely and efficiently while maintaining required quality, productivity, and safety standards.

3. Key Responsibilities

- Learn and perform basic sewing operations as per production requirements.

- Learn to operate different types of industrial sewing machines.

- Follow instructions given by the trainer, supervisor, and line in-charge.

- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

- Stitch garment components according to the specified operation and quality standards.

- Maintain proper stitch quality and minimize sewing defects.

- Check fabric and garment components for basic defects during sewing.

- Achieve assigned training and production targets.

- Handle fabrics, garments, trims, and accessories carefully.

- Identify and report machine problems, material issues, and quality defects to the supervisor.

- Maintain proper machine handling and workstation cleanliness.

- Follow all safety rules, company policies, and production procedures.

- Work effectively with team members and support the sewing line.





- Continuously improve sewing speed, accuracy, and efficiency.

4. Quality Responsibilities
- Maintain approved sewing and stitching standards.

- Identify common sewing defects such as skipped stitches, loose stitches, uneven seams, and thread issues.

- Ensure correct operation sequence and garment construction.

- Inform the supervisor immediately about repeated quality issues.

5. Skills & Competencies
- Willingness to learn sewing and garment production.

- Basic knowledge of tailoring/sewing is an advantage.

- Positive hand-eye coordination.

- Attention to detail and quality.

- Ability to follow instructions.

- Teamwork and discipline.

- Ability to work in a production environment.

- Good learning attitude.

6. Educational Qualification
- Minimum 8th / 10th / 12th pass, as per company requirements.

- Freshers can apply; previous sewing experience is an added advantage.

- On-the-job training will be provided.
