QUALITY ENGINEER

Position: Quality Engineer

1. JOB PURPOSE

To ensure that raw materials, in-process production, and finished products meet defined quality standards, customer specifications, drawings, and company requirements. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for implementing quality systems, identifying and resolving quality issues, reducing rejection and rework, and continuously improving manufacturing processes. The candidate should have practical knowledge of plastic moulding, fabrication processes, and electrical components.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Incoming Quality Control
- Inspect incoming raw materials, bought-out components, electrical components, and fabricated parts.
- Verify materials against approved specifications, drawings, purchase requirements, and inspection standards.
- Conduct dimensional, visual, functional, and material inspections as applicable.
- Maintain incoming inspection records and supplier quality documentation.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.

B. In-Process Quality Control
- Monitor quality at various stages of manufacturing, including:

- Plastic injection moulding

- Fabrication

- Assembly

- Electrical component assembly
- Other production processes as applicable.
- Conduct first-piece, patrol, and final inspections.
- Ensure critical dimensions and process parameters are maintained.
- Monitor moulding defects such as short moulding, sink marks, flash, warpage, burn marks, flow marks, and dimensional variation.
- Inspect fabricated components for dimensional accuracy, welding quality, surface finish, holes, bends, and assembly accuracy.
- Check electrical components for correct specifications, assembly, connections, and functionality.

C. Final Quality Inspection
- Inspect finished products according to approved drawings, specifications, control plans, and customer requirements.




- Ensure products are released only after meeting defined quality standards.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain quality records.
- Support dispatch clearance and customer-specific inspection requirements.

D. Quality Documentation
- Prepare and maintain:

- Inspection Reports

- First Piece Inspection Reports
- In-Process Inspection Records

- Final Inspection Reports

- Control Plans

- Check Sheets
- Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) records

- Rejection and rework reports
- Maintain proper traceability of quality records.

E. Problem Solving & Corrective Action
- Identify root causes of internal and customer quality issues.
- Use quality tools such as:
- 5 Why Analysis

- Fishbone / Ishikawa Analysis

- Pareto Analysis
- 8D Problem Solving

- PDCA
- Implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Follow up to ensure effectiveness of corrective actions.

F. Moulding Quality
- Monitor injection moulding processes and identify moulding-related defects.
- Coordinate with production and mould maintenance teams for quality issues related to moulds, machines, and process parameters.
- Verify critical moulding parameters such as temperature, pressure, cycle time, cooling time, and other applicable settings.
- Support trial and validation of new moulds and process changes.

I. Supplier & Customer Quality
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality issues and corrective actions.
- Support supplier development and incoming quality improvement.
- Handle customer complaints and assist in preparing corrective action reports.
- Coordinate with production, purchase, design, and other departments for resolution of quality issues.

J. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce rejection, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.




- Participate in quality improvement and process improvement projects.
- Monitor quality KPIs and prepare periodic quality reports.
- Promote quality awareness among production and shop-floor employees.

1. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
- Additional certification in Quality Management will be an advantage.

1. EXPERIENCE

- 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control / Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in plastic moulding, fabrication, electrical components, or similar manufacturing processes preferred.
- Candidates with hands-on shop-floor quality experience will be preferred.
