Studio Medium is looking for a textile designer with strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of textiles and a genuine interest in the craft of making.

You will be someone who enjoys working hands-on with textiles and is curious about how fabric can be transformed through weave, colour, surface, texture and technique. You should enjoy developing textiles yourself, experimenting with materials and processes, and working closely with artisans and production teams to bring an idea to life.

Your role will involve taking a textile idea from an initial concept to a finished fabric, developing textile samples, working through colour and material possibilities, refining techniques and ensuring that every textile is resolved in its texture, construction, colour and finish.

You will also have a strong sense of execution and quality control. You will ensure that final production textiles are made exactly as approved, with the approved sample treated as the benchmark and specifications followed precisely. You will be attentive to variations in colour, weave, texture, scale, technique and finishing, and take ownership of ensuring consistency from sample to production.

You will ideally have:

- Strong technical understanding of textiles and textile construction
- A valuable understanding of different textile techniques, processes and materials
- An excellent eye for colour, texture, scale, pattern and surface




- An interest in developing textiles through experimentation and sampling
- The ability to translate an idea or concept into a textile sample and eventually a production textile
- A good understanding of yarns, fibres, fabric structures and their behaviour
- Experience working with weavers, dyers, printers, embroiderers or other textile artisans
- A methodical and problem-solving approach to textile development
- A strong eye for quality, consistency and detail in production
- The ability to document and communicate textile specifications clearly
- The ability to identify and correct discrepancies between approved samples and production textiles
- An appreciation for craftsmanship, materiality and well-made textiles
- The ability to work closely with artisans and production teams and communicate technical requirements clearly

Minimum Experience : 0-2 years This role is for you if you genuinely enjoy the process of making textiles, not just designing them. If you like experimenting with materials and techniques, getting into the details of how a textile is made, solving problems through sampling, and staying with a textile until every detail feels right.
