Company Description DGS Technical Services Inc. (DGSTS, Inc.) is a structural steel design, detailing, connection design, and mechanical engineering services company providing end-to-end solutions from its base in Elgin, IL, USA. The company operates with offshore delivery capabilities in India, the Philippines, and Canada, supported by a multidisciplinary engineering team.

DGSX is a separate division of DGSTS, which offers services including 3D modeling, 2D drawings, drafting and detailing, CAD customization, re-engineering, FEA/CFD analysis, and technical publications. The organization works extensively with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Autodesk products, Solid Edge, Creo, and Tekla. Its clients span industries including oil and gas, energy, locomotives, food processing equipment, material handling, packaging, automation, and semiconductors.

Role Description The Structural Steel Checker is responsible for reviewing and validating structural steel shop drawings, erection plans, and connection details for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This full-time remote role includes verifying dimensions, member sizes, welds, bolts, and material specifications, as well as cross-checking drawings against design models and contract documents.

Checker will coordinate with detailers, engineers, and project managers to resolve discrepancies,



clarify design intent, and ensure timely delivery of quality documentation. The role also involves applying relevant codes and standards, maintaining organized project records, and contributing to continuous improvement of checking procedures and workflows.

Qualifications

- Strong structural steel detailing and checking abilities, including interpretation of fabrication and erection drawings and connection details.
- Proficiency with structural steel CAD and modeling tools (e.g., SDS2, Tekla Structures, Autodesk products, SolidWorks, or similar software).
- Sound knowledge of applicable building codes, AISC standards, welding and bolting specifications, and common industry practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and 3D models with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with remote, cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
- Relevant experience in structural steel design, detailing, or checking within industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent technical training and experience.
