The work is analytical. We look at emerging technologies and business models and try to say something clear about where markets are actually headed, for a global readership. The team is remote and moves quickly, and it values curiosity and rigorous thinking over volume.

The Role

We are hiring a Software Engineer to build the systems behind the analysis.

This publication runs on research, and research needs infrastructure. Our analysts and editors work with datasets on startups, funding, investors, and sectors, and right now too much of that work is manual. You will build the platform that holds it: the backend services, the data models, the internal tools that turn a repeated research task into something that runs by itself.

The other half is reader-facing. When an analysis is worth publishing, it often needs more than prose, whether that is an interactive chart, a data page, a tracker readers come back to, or a newsletter that assembles itself. You will build those, and you will own how quick and reliably they load for an audience spread across the world.

You will work closely with editors and with our data analyst. Your users are two desks away, and they will tell you immediately when something is slow or wrong.

What You Will Do

Design, build, and operate the backend services and APIs behind our digital products.

Build and maintain the data models for companies, funding, investors, and sectors.

Build internal tools that make research repeatable instead of manual.

Ship reader-facing data products: interactive charts, trackers, and data pages.

Integrate external services and data sources.

Own performance, reliability, and scalability for a global audience.

Own quality through tests, code review, monitoring, and debugging production issues.





Contribute to architecture decisions and document them.

Improve tooling and workflow so the team can ship faster.

What You Will Need

2 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with production systems you have shipped and maintained.

Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.

Proficiency in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, Java, Go, or a comparable modern language.

Solid backend experience building and maintaining server-side applications and APIs.

Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.

Fluency with Git, code review, automated testing, and continuous integration.

Strong debugging instincts and the discipline to write code someone else can maintain.

Clear communication with people who are not engineers, since your users are editors and analysts.

The self-direction to work well on a distributed team across time zones.

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

Data pipeline work, especially with external sources that are messy or unreliable.

Frontend ability, enough to ship an interactive chart or data page yourself.

Experience with a content management system or publishing platform.

Web performance work: caching, CDN configuration, and technical SEO.

Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, plus Docker and Kubernetes.

Applications built on LLMs, for search, summarization, or research tooling.

Genuine interest in startups, emerging technology, and how innovation ecosystems work.

Working Here

Remote, based in India. You choose where you work from.

Compensation is ₹12,00,000 to ₹18,00,000 per annum, set by experience and demonstrated engineering ability.
