Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) qualified to lead SAM consulting, governance, compliance, optimization, and managed services engagements across global clients. The candidate will be responsible for establishing SAM operating models, license compliance programs, publisher audit defense, software cost optimization initiatives, and implementing industry-leading SAM platforms such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, and Snow License Manager.

The ideal candidate should possess strong licensing expertise across major software publishers and have hands-on experience in software discovery, entitlement management, reconciliation, audit readiness, cloud licensing, and vendor management.

Duties and responsibilities

SAM Strategy & Governance

- Design and implement Software Asset Management operating models, governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Establish end-to-end SAM lifecycle processes covering request, procurement, deployment, usage, optimization, renewal, and retirement.
- Align SAM practices with ITIL, ISO 19770, ITAM, and industry best practices.
- Define SAM KPIs, compliance metrics, and governance reporting.

License Compliance & Optimization

- Manage software license compliance position across enterprise environments.
- Perform entitlement management, license reconciliation, effective license position (ELP) calculations, and compliance assessments.
- Identify software optimization opportunities through license harvesting, re-harvesting, downgrade opportunities, shelfware identification, and rightsizing initiatives.
- Drive software spend reduction, cost avoidance,



and budget optimization programs.

Publisher Licensing Expertise Demonstrate deep licensing expertise in at least three of the following:

- Microsoft
- Oracle
- IBM
- SAP
- VMware
- Adobe
- Salesforce
- Red Hat
- Citrix

Responsibilities include:
- Contract interpretation
- Licensing metric analysis
- Audit preparedness
- True-up management
- Advisory on licensing implications for cloud migrations, virtualization, SaaS, and hybrid deployments

Audit & Risk Management

- Lead publisher audits and audit defense activities.
- Prepare compliance evidence, deployment data, entitlement records, and audit responses.
- Assess contractual, financial, and compliance risks.
- Recommend remediation and risk mitigation actions.

Tool Implementation & Administration Hands-on expertise in one or more of:

- ServiceNow SAM Pro
- Flexera One / FlexNet Manager
- Snow License Manager

Discovery & Data Management

- Manage software discovery and inventory programs across on-premise, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Analyze inventory data from SCCM, Intune, ServiceNow Discovery, Tanium, Lansweeper, Flexera Inventory, and similar tools.
- Ensure data quality, normalization, categorization,



and software catalog governance.

Cloud & SaaS Asset Management

- Provide advisory services on cloud subscription licensing and SaaS optimization.
- Assess licensing impacts related to Azure, AWS, GCP, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and other cloud platforms.
- Monitor SaaS utilization and identify optimization opportunities.

Stakeholder Management & Consulting

- Engage with CIO organizations, Infrastructure teams, Procurement, Vendor Management, Security, Finance, and Audit stakeholders.
- Present licensing risk assessments, optimization opportunities, and executive-level SAM dashboards.
- Support RFPs, solution design, and SAM transformation initiatives.

Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline from a recognized university. Master's degree and SAM/ITAM-related certifications (IAITAM, ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, ITIL) are preferred.
