Senior IT System Administrator – L1 & L2 Support
Location: Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Experience: Senior-level IT Infrastructure / System Administration experience
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior IT System Administrator – L1 & L2 Support to manage and support the organization's complete IT infrastructure and end-user computing environment.
The role will be responsible for desktop and laptop support, Windows Servers, Active Directory, networking, firewalls, storage, backup, endpoint security, CCTV, printers, software applications, hardware, and IT asset management.
The candidate should have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, provide effective L1/L2 technical support, maintain IT infrastructure availability and security, and coordinate with vendors and service providers for installation, maintenance, repairs, and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities1. Desktop & Laptop Support – L1/L2
- Provide L1/L2 technical support for desktops, laptops, workstations, and IT peripherals.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows operating systems.
- Perform OS installation, formatting, imaging, upgrades, and system configuration.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues involving RAM, HDD/SSD, motherboard, power supply, monitors, keyboards, mice, docking stations, and other peripherals.
- Configure systems for domain connectivity, network access, printers, applications, and security policies.
- Troubleshoot system performance, login, connectivity, driver, and application-related issues.
- Maintain hardware inventory and asset allocation records.
1. Server Administration – L1/L2
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Servers.
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, user accounts, computers, and domain services.
- Perform server health checks, patching, updates, and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor server availability, performance, disk space, and system health.
- Troubleshoot Windows Server services, authentication, permissions, and connectivity issues.
- Support virtualization environments such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Escalate complex server issues to L3 teams or OEM/vendor support when required.
1. Network Administration – L1/L2
- Configure and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, access points, and VLANs.
- Troubleshoot IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, connectivity, and network access issues.
- Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and availability.
- Perform basic routing and switching troubleshooting.
- Support network installations, device replacements, and configuration changes.
- Maintain network documentation and topology diagrams.
- Coordinate with ISP and network vendors for connectivity-related issues.
1. Firewall & VPN Support
- Provide L1/L2 administration and troubleshooting for FortiGate, SonicWall, or equivalent firewalls.
- Support firewall policies, NAT, VPN, web filtering, and access-control configurations.
- Troubleshoot VPN and remote-access connectivity issues.
- Monitor firewall alerts and basic security logs.
- Coordinate with network/security vendors for advanced firewall issues.
1. Storage & Backup
- Manage and monitor NAS/SAN storage, volumes, shares, permissions, snapshots, replication, and quotas.
- Monitor storage capacity, utilization, and availability.
- Manage backup schedules and monitor backup jobs.
- Work with NAKIVO or equivalent backup solutions.
- Perform backup restoration and periodic restore testing.
- Troubleshoot backup failures and coordinate with vendors when required.
- Support disaster recovery activities and documentation.
1. Printer & Peripheral Support
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network, laser, inkjet, and multifunction printers.
- Configure printer drivers, print servers, shared printers, and network printing.
- Troubleshoot printer connectivity, spooler, driver, scanning, and configuration issues.
- Support scanners, biometric devices, UPS systems, projectors, displays, and other IT peripherals.
- Coordinate with hardware and printer vendors for repairs, AMC, and replacements.
1. CCTV & Surveillance Support
- Provide L1/L2 troubleshooting for CCTV cameras, NVR/DVR systems, monitors, and related network connectivity.
- Support basic configuration and troubleshooting of IP cameras.
- Monitor camera connectivity, recording status, and storage availability.
- Troubleshoot camera, NVR/DVR, display, and connectivity issues.
- Coordinate with CCTV vendors for installation, maintenance, repairs, replacements, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Maintain CCTV device and location documentation.
1. Software & Application Support
- Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot business applications, Microsoft Office, utilities, drivers, security software, and other authorized applications.
- Configure software according to user and business requirements.
- Troubleshoot application crashes, compatibility, installation, configuration, and licensing issues.
- Maintain software installation and licensing records.
- Coordinate with software/application vendors for unresolved issues.
- Ensure software installations comply with company policies and licensing requirements.
1. Endpoint Security
- Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Antivirus, EDR, DLP, encryption, and other endpoint security solutions.
- Ensure endpoint security agents are installed and functioning properly.
- Monitor endpoint security alerts and assist with incident resolution.
- Implement security policies and ensure user devices comply with organizational standards.
- Coordinate with security vendors for advanced incidents and technical issues.
1. Hardware & IT Asset Management
- Manage IT assets including desktops, laptops, servers, printers, switches, routers, firewalls, CCTV equipment, UPS systems, monitors, and peripherals.
- Maintain asset inventory, allocation, warranty, AMC, repair, and replacement records.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of IT assets.
- Coordinate procurement, installation, replacement, repair, and disposal of IT equipment.
- Ensure proper asset tagging and documentation.
1. L1/L2 Helpdesk & User Support
- Provide onsite and remote L1/L2 technical support to end users.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, network, printer, and access-related incidents.
- Log, update, track, and close incidents within defined SLA timelines.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend permanent solutions.
- Escalate issues requiring L3 expertise or vendor intervention.
- Maintain proper incident and troubleshooting documentation.
1. Vendor & AMC Management
- Coordinate with hardware, software, printer, CCTV, network, ISP, firewall, backup, and other IT vendors.
- Raise and track support tickets with vendors.
- Follow up until issues are resolved and tickets are closed.
- Coordinate vendor visits, installations, repairs, replacements, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
- Track AMC, warranty, service contracts, and renewal dates.
- Verify vendor service quality and SLA compliance.
- Maintain vendor contact details and service records.
1. IT Documentation & Operations
- Maintain IT infrastructure documentation, network diagrams, asset registers, configuration records, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintain records of hardware, software, licenses, warranties, AMC contracts, and vendor activities.
- Prepare regular reports on backup status, infrastructure health, assets, incidents, and pending issues.
- Follow IT security policies, access-control procedures, and audit requirements.
- Support IT audits and compliance activities.
- Document changes, preventive maintenance, incidents, and resolutions.
Required Technical Skills
