– SENIOR STAFF NURSE

Position: Senior Staff Nurse

Reporting To: Nursing Superintendent / Nursing In-Charge / Medical Superintendent

Job Summary The Senior Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care, supervising junior nursing staff, maintaining patient safety, ensuring proper documentation, and coordinating with doctors and other healthcare departments for effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients.
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition regularly.
- Administer medicines, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist doctors during procedures, rounds, and emergencies.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, patient records, and treatment documentation.
- Ensure proper medication administration and follow the 5 Rights of Medication Administration.
- Supervise and guide junior staff nurses and nursing assistants.
- Allocate duties and coordinate nursing activities during shifts.
- Ensure proper handover and takeover between shifts.
- Maintain infection prevention and control practices.
- Follow hospital policies, nursing protocols, NABH standards, and patient-safety guidelines.
- Handle emergency situations and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
- Ensure proper care and monitoring of critical patients as assigned.




- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of nursing stations and patient-care areas.
- Communicate effectively with patients, attendants, doctors, and other departments.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Report any significant change in patient condition to the concerned doctor and Nursing In-Charge.
- Participate in staff training, audits, quality-improvement activities, and hospital programs.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Support the Nursing In-Charge in maintaining discipline and smooth departmental operations.

Required Qualification

- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid Nursing Registration with the respective Nursing Council.

Experience

- Preferably 1–5 years of relevant hospital experience.
- Experience in a multispecialty hospital will be preferred.
