Technical sourcing across specialised material categories

Structural steel and fabrication consumables, PFP systems (intumescent and cementitious coatings, fireproofing boards), and HPC materials (industrial paints, primers, specialty coatings) each carry distinct specifications, standards, and vendor ecosystems. This role must source correctly across all of them, not just process purchase requests.

Vendor qualification for specification-critical materials A wrong or substandard material in fabrication, PFP, or HPC work is a quality and compliance risk, not just a cost issue. The Sr. Manager must qualify and manage vendors who can consistently meet technical and certification requirements not only price and delivery.

Bridging procurement, engineering, and site execution

This role sits between commercial procurement and technical teams — QA/QC, project engineers, and business heads across verticals — and must be credible with both, translating technical requirements into sourcing action and flagging technical risk in vendor proposals.

RESPONSIBILITIES — WHAT THIS ROLE OWNS

Technical Procurement & Specification

- Source structural steel, fabrication consumables, PFP materials (coatings, boards, sealants), and HPC materials (paints, primers, thinners) to project and vertical-specific specifications
- Read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and material data sheets to ensure sourced materials meet requirements
- Coordinate with QA/QC on material inspection, test certificates, and compliance documentation (mill test certificates, coating batch data, etc.)
- Stay current on materials, standards, and vendors relevant to fabrication, PFP, and HPC industries

Vendor & Category Management

- Identify, evaluate,



and develop vendors for each technical category — fabrication, PFP, HPC, and rope access consumables/equipment
- Negotiate rate contracts for high-volume and specification-critical materials
- Maintain and continuously assess the approved vendor list against quality, reliability, certification, and cost
- Own procurement savings targets for technical categories — track and report savings vs budget

Inventory and Logistics

- Maintain inventory levels for specification-critical and long-lead materials across project sites and the fabrication shop
- Coordinate logistics, import/export documentation, and delivery schedules for technical materials
- Flag inventory risks — shortages, excess stock, or near-expiry coating materials — proactively

Systems and Reporting

- Maintain accurate procurement and inventory data in ERPNext, including technical specification fields
- Prepare procurement performance reports — savings, PO cycle times, vendor OTD, and quality rejections
- Interface with Finance on vendor payments and procurement approvals for technical purchases

ROLE PROFILE — WHAT THIS ROLE DEMANDS

- Whole-industry working knowledge of fabrication, Passive Fire Protection (PFP), and High Performance Coatings (HPC) — materials, processes, and applicable standards
- Proven track record in procurement/SCM within an industrial, fabrication, or coatings-driven project business
- Ability to read technical specifications, drawings, and material data sheets, and translate them into sourcing decisions
- Robust negotiation skills and vendor relationship management capability, including with specialised/technical vendors
- Systems-oriented — comfortable working in ERP procurement modules (ERPNext or equivalent) at a detailed level
- Ability to manage a geographically dispersed, multi-vertical supply chain with high execution pace
