Job Purpose To ensure safe working practices across the chemical manufacturing plant by implementing safety procedures, monitoring statutory compliance, conducting safety inspections and training employees on protected work practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Safety & Monitoring

- Conduct regular safety rounds and inspections across production, utility, warehouse and other plant areas.
- Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to plant safety procedures.
- Monitor safe handling, storage and movement of chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, work permits and safety guidelines.

2. Risk Assessment & Safety Systems

- Conduct and support HIRA, JSA/JHA and risk assessments for plant activities.
- Implement and monitor Permit to Work (PTW) systems for activities such as hot work, height work, confined space and maintenance work.
- Support implementation of safety procedures, emergency preparedness and preventive measures.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend practical control measures.

3. Emergency & Fire Safety

- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Conduct regular checks of fire extinguishers, hydrants, fire-fighting systems and emergency equipment.
- Participate in and coordinate mock drills such as fire, chemical leakage and emergency evacuation drills.
- Assist in investigating incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences and track corrective actions.

4. Training & Safety Awareness

- Conduct toolbox talks and regular safety awareness sessions for employees, contract workers and visitors.




- Educate employees on PPE, chemical handling, emergency procedures and safe working practices.
- Maintain records of safety training, inspections, drills and corrective actions.

5. Statutory & EHS Compliance

- Support compliance with applicable Factories Act/Rules, Industrial Safety and other statutory EHS requirements.
- Maintain required safety documentation, registers, inspection reports and compliance records.
- Coordinate with relevant departments during statutory inspections and audits.
- Monitor closure of observations arising from internal, external and statutory safety audits.

6. Incident Reporting & Corrective Actions

- Report and document accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Assist in root-cause analysis and preparation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Follow up with concerned departments for timely closure of safety observations.

7. Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Utility, Stores, HR and other departments to ensure safe working conditions.
- Monitor safety compliance of contractors and external workers working inside the plant.
- Coordinate with external agencies/vendors for safety-related activities wherever required.
