Job Summary

The Purchase Engineer in the Steel Fabrication Industry is responsible for managing the procurement process specifically related to steel fabrication materials, equipment, and services required by the company. This role requires technical knowledge of steel fabrication processes, an understanding of engineering specifications, and the ability to source, negotiate, and purchase materials from suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Sourcing and Supplier Management:

- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for steel fabrication materials, equipment, and services.
- Assess supplier capabilities, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Negotiate favorable terms, contracts, and pricing agreements with suppliers.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and conduct regular performance reviews.

Technical Evaluation and Specifications:

- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to understand technical requirements for steel fabrication projects.
- Evaluate technical specifications for materials, equipment, and services.
- Provide input and recommendations on suitable alternatives or improvements to meet project requirements.

Purchase Order Processing:

- Receive and review purchase requisitions for steel fabrication materials.
- Prepare accurate purchase orders and obtain necessary approvals.
- Place orders with selected suppliers and ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with internal teams to schedule deliveries in line with project timelines.

Quality Assurance and Inspection:





- Ensure compliance with quality standards for steel fabrication materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with suppliers to conduct quality inspections and tests when necessary.
- Address any quality issues and work with suppliers to resolve them promptly.

Cost Optimization and Supplier Development:

- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and project requirements.
- Explore opportunities for vendor consolidation and long-term agreements.
- Continuously monitor market trends, prices, and new suppliers to improve procurement strategies.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including contracts, specifications, and supplier information.
- Generate reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Must have
- Proven experience as a Purchase Engineer in the Steel Fabrication Industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication processes and materials.
- Familiarity with engineering specifications and drawings.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess technical requirements and evaluate supplier capabilities.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations.

Job Type: Full time Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
