About us

OWR is a D2C streetwear brand. We run our own factory in Ludhiana — stitching, embroidery, printing, washing and dyeing all under one roof. Fabric we source. Everything that happens to it after, we control. We're putting the design team together now — you'd be one of two designers, working directly with the founder.

Why this role is different

You're not sending tech packs into a vendor's inbox and waiting six weeks. When it's time to sample, you're standing at the machine while your pattern gets cut. Want to try four armhole depths before committing? Go try four armhole depths. Want to know what a heavy enzyme wash does to your block instead of guessing at a shrinkage allowance? Wash it and measure it.

We're looking for someone who wants to try things. Not someone who wants to repeat what worked last season — we'd rather back an experiment that fails than ship something safe. If you've got ideas you've never been allowed to make, this is the place to make them.

Everyone says fit matters. Almost nobody gets it right. That's the entire job.

Where you'll be

Studio in Chandigarh. When a set of designs is ready, you're in Ludhiana at the factory putting them on a machine. Sourcing trips with the team — Delhi mostly, but wherever the fabric is. Travel and stay are on us, and it's a genuine part of this job, not an occasional thing. You get a proper city to live in and a factory to build in. Most design jobs make you pick one.

What you'll own

- The OWR block library — the silhouettes people recognise before they see the label
- Pattern making and grading,



manual and CAD
- Spec sheets, POMs, tolerances, size sets
- Fabric and trim sourcing. We have established vendors for most of what we run — when we want something new, you find it: source sampling fabric, test how it behaves, and decide whether the vendor is valuable enough to work with
- How wash and dye affect your patterns — shrinkage, skew, what a garment actually measures after finishing, not before

- Fit sessions end to end — fit model, corrections, sign-off, and the fit standard every SKU is held to
- Working with our master cutter and sampling tailors — some of it remotely from Chandigarh, the rest on the floor in Ludhiana

What you need

- You build patterns from scratch, not just modify existing ones
- Knit fabric literacy — you know why a 380 GSM loopknit drops differently from French terry, and you can predict what a fabric does after wash
- You can judge a fabric and a vendor: what to ask, what to test, what a bad lot looks like before it becomes 300 bad pieces
- You write a spec sheet a factory can actually run from
- Comfortable on the floor: you can explain a correction in Hindi or Punjabi to someone who's been doing this for twenty years, and have them respect you
- Streetwear proportion sense — drop shoulders, boxy blocks, oversized without shapeless,



and knowing exactly where an armhole should sit
- You experiment. You've made things nobody asked you to make.
- Up for travel: Ludhiana for sampling, Delhi and elsewhere for sourcing

Nice to have: CLO 3D or Browzwear, garment wash and dye experience, wovens and denim as a second skill. No degree requirement. Pattern master from an export house, design school graduate, or self-taught — all equally welcome. The trial decides it.

Hiring process

- Send work you've made — garments, patterns, specs. Finished product over mood boards.
- A 20-minute call. Walk us through one thing you made and what went wrong with it.
- A day at our factory. We give you a reference image, fabric, our cutting table and a tailor. You make it. Travel and stay on us, wherever you're coming from.

Reports to Founder, directly. No layers. You own the garment; the graphic designer owns the artwork; the founder signs off where they meet.

Compensation

₹40,000–45,000 per month. Travel and stay covered. Sampling budget. Performance bonus tied to how your product sells.
