About the Role

We are looking for a skilled PLC Programmer / Automation Engineer to develop, program, commission, and troubleshoot automation systems for Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and industrial automation equipment.

The candidate will work closely with the mechanical, electrical, design, and project teams to develop reliable machine-control solutions from the design stage through installation and commissioning at the customer site.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop PLC programs for Special Purpose Machines, automated production lines, and industrial equipment.
- Develop and modify PLC logic based on machine sequences, functional requirements, and control philosophy.
- Program and configure HMI systems for machine operation, alarms, diagnostics, recipes, and parameter settings.
- Integrate PLCs with:
- Servo drives
- VFDs
- Sensors and actuators
- Pneumatic systems
- Safety circuits
- Vision systems
- Robots
- Barcode/RFID systems
- Industrial communication networks
- Develop machine sequences involving interlocking, sequencing, timers, counters, positioning, motion control, and fault handling.
- Configure and troubleshoot communication protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet/IP, CAN/CANopen, etc.
- Work with electrical engineers for I/O allocation, control-panel design, electrical schematics, and wiring requirements.
- Understand electrical drawings and assist in selection/specification of PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and other automation components.
- Carry out PLC/HMI testing, machine debugging, dry runs,



and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
- Commission machines at customer sites and ensure the machine meets the required cycle time, sequence, safety, and functionality.
- Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, drive, sensor, communication, and machine-sequence-related problems during commissioning.
- Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams to resolve machine-level issues.
- Optimize machine programs to improve cycle time, reliability, machine efficiency, and repeatability.
- Prepare and maintain PLC software backups, program documentation, I/O lists, manuals, and commissioning reports.
- Provide technical support to customers after machine installation when required.
- Travel to customer locations for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service.

Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming and industrial automation.
- Hands-on experience with one or more PLC platforms such as:
- Siemens S7-1200 / S7-1500 / S7-300
- Allen-Bradley / Rockwell
- Mitsubishi
- Omron
- Schneider
- Experience with HMI programming.
- Knowledge of servo motors, servo drives, VFDs, and motion-control systems.
- Understanding of industrial sensors, pneumatic components, solenoid valves, cylinders, proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, encoders, etc.
- Ability to read and understand electrical control schematics.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networking.
- Understanding of machine safety systems, emergency stops, safety relays, and safety PLCs.




- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of electrical panels and control systems.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should:
- Have hands-on experience in SPM, machine automation, machine building, or industrial automation.
- Be comfortable working directly on machines during assembly, testing, debugging, and commissioning.
- Have strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Be able to understand machine sequences and convert them into PLC logic.
- Be comfortable coordinating with mechanical and electrical engineering teams.
- Be willing to travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning.
- Have valuable communication and documentation skills.

Education & Experience

Qualification:

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience:

5-10 years of relevant experience in PLC programming, SPM automation, machine building, or industrial automation.

Freshers with strong practical PLC knowledge and relevant project experience may also be considered for junior positions.
