Key Responsibilities

- Review medical records and clinical documentation for coding-related information.
- Identify diagnoses, procedures, services, and relevant medical terminology from assigned documents.
- Assist in assigning appropriate medical codes based on provided documentation and coding guidelines.
- Work with ICD-10-CM and other commonly used coding systems as applicable.
- Verify that assigned codes are supported by the available documentation.
- Identify incomplete, unclear, or inconsistent information in medical records.
- Assist with reviewing coding-related discrepancies and corrections.
- Maintain accurate coding records and assigned documentation.
- Follow established healthcare privacy and documentation procedures.
- Perform basic quality checks on completed coding work.
- Research unfamiliar medical terms and coding concepts when required.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy while completing assigned tasks.
- Prepare basic coding-related reports and updates.
- Communicate questions or documentation concerns to the appropriate team member.
