?️ RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES IN GNSS, AI/ML & ANTI-SPOOFINGBITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa CampusWe are inviting applications from highly motivated students/researchers interested in working on next-generation GNSS resilience, anti-spoofing, signal processing, AI/ML and SDR-based navigation systems.
Two research opportunities are currently available:
? PROJECT 1 — RMIT TEAM-ORIENTED RESEARCH PROJECTProject ID: BITS025F001497Development of Machine Learning-based Jamming and Spoofing Detection for GPS and NavIC Software ReceiversCollaborating Institution: RMIT University, Australia
GNSS signals are vulnerable to jamming and spoofing, creating significant risks for navigation-dependent systems. This project aims to develop an advanced AI/ML-based GNSS threat detection and mitigation framework for GPS and NavIC.
Research will include
- ? Machine Learning / Deep Learning for GNSS security
- ?️ GPS and NavIC signal processing
- ? Jamming and spoofing detection
- ? GNSS Software Defined Radio (SDR)
- ? Multi-antenna processing and Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) estimation
- ? Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs)
- ⚡ Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs)
- ? Reinforcement Learning for adaptive countermeasures
- ? Synthetic attack generation using the Skydel GNSS simulator
- ? Analysis of real-world GNSS RF recordings
- ? Integration and testing with an in-house GNSS software receiver developed for ISRO
- ? Testing with commercial GNSS receivers
The project will combine AI/ML algorithms with real GNSS signals, SDR platforms and software receivers,
with the objective of developing a practical and real-time GNSS security framework. International Research CollaborationBITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus

? PROJECT 2 — ISRO-FUNDED RESEARCH PROJECTDevelopment of CRPA-FSS Antenna for GNSS Anti-SpoofingThis ISRO-funded research project focuses on the development of an advanced Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) using Frequency Selective Surface (FSS)
technology for enhancing GNSS resilience against spoofing and interference.
Research areas include
- ? CRPA antenna systems
- ?️ GNSS anti-spoofing
- ? Multi-antenna signal processing
- ? Spatial filtering and interference suppression
- ? FSS-based antenna technology
- ? GNSS RF experimentation
- ⚙️ Real-time implementation of anti-spoofing techniques
- ? Intelligent signal/interference processing
The research will involve both RF/antenna development and GNSS signal-processing aspects, with the objective of developing practical anti-spoofing technology for resilient positioning, navigation and timing (PNT). Project SupervisionDr. Nitin Sharma
