About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Industrial Relations Manager to manage employee relations, labour relations,
workforce engagement, statutory compliance, and industrial relations activities across construction/project sites. The ideal candidate should have around 20 years of experience in Industrial Relations, preferably within the construction,
infrastructure, EPC, or engineering sector, with strong exposure to managing large workforces, contractors, labour unions, and site-level employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Industrial Relations (IR) activities across construction/project sites.
- Manage relationships with workmen, labour contractors, unions, and employee representatives.
- Handle and resolve labour grievances, disciplinary matters, disputes, and employee relations issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, employment regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Liaise with Labour Department, Government Authorities, Inspectors, and other statutory bodies.
- Manage labour-related documentation, registers, records, notices, and statutory submissions.
- Support management in handling industrial disputes, negotiations, settlements, and conciliation proceedings.
- Develop and implement effective grievance-handling and disciplinary procedures.
- Monitor contractor compliance with labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with project/site management on manpower deployment, workforce discipline, productivity, and labour
issues.
- Handle matters related to contract labour, wages, working conditions, attendance, overtime, and employee welfare.
- Conduct regular workforce engagement and maintain a positive industrial relations environment.
- Provide management with advice on IR risks, labour-related matters, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain strong coordination between HR, project management, contractors, workers, and senior leadership.
- Support HR initiatives related to workforce planning, employee welfare, and site administration.
Desired Candidate Profile
- 1822 years of relevant experience, preferably around 20 years.
- Strong experience in Industrial Relations / Employee Relations, preferably in the Construction, Infrastructure, EPC,
Engineering, or Projects industry.
- Proven experience managing large blue-collar/workmen populations and project-site workforce.
- Experience dealing with labour contractors, unions, worker representatives, and government authorities.
- Robust understanding of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance.
- Experience in handling industrial disputes, negotiations, disciplinary proceedings, and grievance resolution.
- Strong communication, negotiation, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage IR matters across demanding project environments.
- Willingness to travel to and work closely with project/construction sites as required.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Human Resources, Personnel Management, Labour Welfare, Industrial Relations, or
a related discipline.
- A qualification in Labour Laws / Personnel Management / HR will be an added advantage.
