Medark Hospital is looking for a responsible and experienced Hospital Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team.

The candidate will be responsible for safe and accurate dispensing of medicines, maintaining pharmacy inventory, coordinating with doctors and nursing staff, managing hospital/IPD medication requirements, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy and hospital protocols.

The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of medicines, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Dispense medicines accurately against valid prescriptions.
- Verify prescriptions for medicine name, strength, dosage, quantity and instructions.
- Handle OPD and IPD pharmacy requirements.
- Prepare and issue medicines and consumables for admitted patients.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses and other hospital departments regarding medication requirements.
- Maintain proper records of medicine dispensing and stock movement.
- Monitor pharmacy inventory and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Maintain proper records of purchases, sales, returns and adjustments.
- Conduct regular checks for near-expiry and expired medicines.
- Ensure proper storage of medicines according to manufacturer requirements.
- Maintain cold-chain medicines at appropriate temperatures.
- Follow FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles.
- Monitor high-value, high-risk and emergency medicines carefully.
- Maintain proper documentation for controlled/scheduled medicines as applicable.
- Check incoming medicines for quantity, batch number, expiry date and packaging condition.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding shortages, replacements, returns and near-expiry stock.
- Minimize stock losses due to expiry, damage or incorrect storage.
- Assist in maintaining the hospital formulary and approved medicine list.




- Ensure medicines are issued only against appropriate authorization/prescription.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness, organization and professional standards.
- Follow hospital SOPs, NABH requirements and applicable pharmacy regulations.
- Participate in pharmacy stock audits and periodic physical verification.
- Immediately report medication-related discrepancies or safety concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.

Required Qualifications
- B.Pharm / D.Pharm from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the State Pharmacy Council.
- Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy will be preferred.
- Good knowledge of commonly used medicines, dosage forms and medical consumables.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to work with pharmacy/HMIS software.
- Valuable communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work in shifts and handle a busy hospital environment.
