About the Role

We are looking for a GIS & Geospatial Technology Specialist to strengthen our geospatial, data and digital capabilities.

This is more than a conventional GIS role. The candidate will work across GIS, spatial analytics, remote sensing, programming, Web GIS and emerging AI/ML applications to support agriculture, climate, livelihoods and development programmes.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct GIS and spatial analysis using ArcGIS/QGIS, including raster/vector processing, spatial modelling and mapping.
- Develop Python-based GIS automation, ETL and data-processing workflows.
- Build and manage spatial databases using PostgreSQL/PostGIS and SQL.
- Develop interactive Web GIS applications, maps and dashboards using tools such as Leaflet, MapLibre, Mapbox or OpenLayers.
- Process satellite imagery such as Sentinel-1/2, Landsat and PlanetScope for agriculture, land-use, climate and environmental applications.
- Use Google Earth Engine and remote-sensing indices for crop monitoring, vegetation and climate analysis.
- Explore and apply AI/ML and computer vision for geospatial applications such as crop classification, plot detection, object detection and image segmentation.
- Integrate GIS data with APIs,



dashboards and digital platforms.
- Support field data collection, spatial validation and quality assurance.
- Translate programme and development questions into practical geospatial insights and decision-support tools.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams across agriculture, climate, finance, livelihoods, technology and development.

Required Skills

Essential

- ArcGIS and/or QGIS
- Python and SQL
- Spatial analysis and geospatial data management
- Raster and vector processing
- Good understanding of GIS concepts and cartography

Strong Advantage
- PostgreSQL/PostGIS
- Web GIS – Leaflet, MapLibre, Mapbox or OpenLayers
- JavaScript / REST APIs
- Google Earth Engine
- Remote sensing and satellite imagery
- Machine learning / deep learning / computer vision
- GeoServer, GDAL, GeoPandas or similar open-source tools
- Git/GitHub

Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Geoinformatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, Geospatial Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or related field.
- 3–7 years of relevant qualified experience.
- Experience in agriculture, climate, rural development, livelihoods, sustainability or development programmes is an advantage.
