General Surgery - Assistant Professor / Senior Resident

Job Purpose To provide comprehensive surgical care through OPD, IPD, Emergency and Operation Theatre services while ensuring safe, ethical and evidence-based clinical practices. The incumbent shall actively contribute to departmental growth, patient satisfaction, quality initiatives and compliance with institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive patient care in OPD, IPD, Emergency, ICU and Operation Theatre.
- Evaluate, diagnose and formulate appropriate treatment plans for surgical patients.
- Perform and assist in elective and emergency surgical procedures as per competency.
- Conduct daily ward rounds and ensure appropriate pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
- Attend emergency and on-call duties as per departmental roster.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records, discharge summaries and clinical documentation.
- Ensure adherence to infection control practices, patient safety protocols and ethical standards.

Departmental Responsibilities

- Support the smooth functioning and development of the Department of General Surgery.
- Coordinate effectively with Nursing, Anaesthesia, Radiology and other clinical departments to ensure multidisciplinary patient care.
- Participate in departmental meetings, CMEs, clinical discussions and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in implementing departmental SOPs,



clinical protocols and best practices.
- Contribute towards NMC compliance, inspections and other institutional quality initiatives.

Professional Responsibilities

- Maintain professional conduct, integrity and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, attendants and colleagues.
- Participate in health camps, awareness programmes and community outreach activities organized by the institution.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or Hospital Administration.

Qualification

- MS/DNB in General Surgery from an NMC-recognized institution.
- Valid State Medical Council/NMC Registration.
- Eligibility as per prevailing NMC norm.
