Role Description The Formal Verification Researcher role at Kensara is a part time hybrid position based in the Greater Delhi Area, with flexibility for some work from home. The researcher will design and analyze formal models of data protection workflows, consent mechanisms, and compliance processes aligned with DPDPA requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing formal specifications, applying formal verification techniques to identify inconsistencies or gaps,



collaborating with privacy experts and engineering teams to translate legal and operational requirements into verifiable models, and documenting findings and recommendations.

The role also involves contributing to research prototypes, evaluating tools and frameworks for formal reasoning about system behavior, and preparing technical reports or publications that support product development and client-facing materials.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in formal methods and verification techniques, such as model checking, theorem proving, and specification languages (e.g., TLA+, Coq, Isabelle, or similar).
- Applied experience with formal modeling of software systems, protocols, or workflows, including ability to reason about correctness, safety, and security properties.
- Knowledge of data protection, privacy-by-design principles, or regulatory frameworks; familiarity with DPDPA, GDPR, or related privacy laws is an advantage.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in formal verification or systems research (e.g., Python, Haskell, OCaml, or functional languages).
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and operational requirements into clear technical models.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain formal results to non-specialist stakeholders and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
