The Incumbent will be responsible for-

- Design fire detection & suppression systems (clean agent, aerosol, water mist, hybrid) for BESS containers

- Develop fire protection philosophy, layouts, and technical specifications

- Ensure compliance with NFPA 855, UL 9540/9540A, IEC & local fire codes

- Integrate fire systems with BMS, HVAC, EMS, and control systems

- Conduct risk assessments (HAZOP/FMEA) and define mitigation strategies

- Define gas detection, ventilation, and explosion prevention measures

- Develop and manage test schedules for all UL 9540A and LSFT testing activities, ensuring resource availability and on-time execution.

- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and primary point of contact for all communications with certification bodies and external test laboratories regarding UL 9540A and LSFT testing.

- Coordinate logistical activities to ensure test units are prepared and delivered on time to meet testing schedules.

- Develop and implement phased incident response strategies (early detection isolation suppression system shutdown recovery) at product and project level

- Support FAT/SAT,



commissioning, emergency drills, and performance validation

- Engage with OEMs, EPCs, utilities, and fire authorities for approvals and alignment

- Drive continuous improvement by implementing industry best practices and optimizing testing methodologies for efficiency and accuracy.

- Promote cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and regional teams to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

- Robust knowledge of fire suppression technologies, detection systems & safety standards

- Experience in incident response planning, emergency handling protocols, and system integration

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred:

- Experience in utility-scale BESS projects

- Exposure to thermal runaway behavior, off-gas detection & explosion mitigation

- Familiarity with phased emergency response and safety procedures in critical infrastructure
