Position - Cable Technician / Cable Team Member

Optical Fiber Splicing, Testing and Network Restoration

- Perform optical fibre splicing for FTTH, HFC and backbone fibre networks.

- Carry out fibre jointing, termination and restoration activities.

- Identify and rectify fibre cuts, attenuation and connectivity issues.

- Perform core identification, fibre preparation, splicing and joint closure work.

- Operate fusion splicing machines, OTDR, power meter, VFL and other fibre-testing equipment.

- Conduct OTDR testing and analyse results to identify faults and fibre loss.

- Maintain proper fibre routing, dressing, labelling and documentation.

- Handle emergency fibre-cut restoration activities and minimise network downtime.

- Coordinate with the NOC, field engineers and Operations team for fault identification and resolution.

- Support preventive maintenance and network restoration activities as required.

- Ensure proper handling and protection of fibre joints, closures and associated equipment.

- Maintain tools, equipment and required materials in proper working condition.

- Follow all safety procedures, company SOPs and network quality standards.

- Update work status and provide accurate information after completion of assigned activities.

- Ensure all assigned work is completed within the defined TAT.

- Maintain proper records of splicing work, testing results,



fibre routes and restoration activities.

Required Skills

- Good knowledge of optical fibre networks and fibre splicing techniques.

- Hands-on experience with fusion splicing machines.

- Knowledge of OTDR, power meter, VFL and other fibre-testing equipment.

- Ability to troubleshoot fibre faults and perform restoration work.

- Basic understanding of fibre loss, power levels and OTDR readings.

- Ability to interpret OTDR test results and identify fibre-related faults.

- Valuable teamwork, coordination and communication skills.

- Ability to work in outdoor and field conditions.

- Willingness to attend emergency breakdowns and restoration work when required.

Key Requirements

- Field-work flexibility.

- Willingness to work in shifts and during emergency restoration activities.

- Valid two-wheeler/driving licence preferred.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Ability to travel within the assigned operational area.

- Physically fit for field and outdoor activities.

- Willingness to respond to emergency fibre-cut restoration requirements.

Qualification / Experience :

- ITI / Diploma / equivalent technical qualification preferred.

- 1 – 3 Years Experience in Optical Fibre / Telecom field.

Relevant telecom/fibre network and splicing experience will be an advantage.
