1. Job Purpose

The Estimation Engineer / Executive will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially viable project estimates, BOQs, cost sheets and quotations for Fire & Safety, ELV, Security, and Integrated Systems projects. The role will involve coordination with the Tendering, Projects, Procurement, OEM/Vendors and Sales teams to ensure technically compliant and commercially competitive submissions.

2. Key Responsibilities

* Study tender documents, RFQs, BOQs, technical specifications, drawings, scope of work and contractual requirements.

- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, rate analysis and project cost estimates.
- Analyse drawings, layouts, schematics and specifications to identify material and installation requirements.
- Prepare estimates for systems such as:
- Fire Detection & Alarm Systems
- Fire Suppression Systems
- Water Mist / Gas Suppression Systems
- CCTV Surveillance Systems
- Access Control & Biometric Systems
- Public Address / Voice Evacuation Systems
- Intrusion Detection Systems
- ELV & Integrated Security Systems
- Networking / Structured Cabling
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from OEMs, suppliers, subcontractors and service providers.
- Prepare comparative statements for vendor/OEM quotations and identify cost-effective solutions.
- Verify technical compliance of quoted products against tender specifications.
- Coordinate with the technical team for BOQ preparation, quantity verification and system design inputs.
- Calculate material, labour, installation, testing & commissioning, transportation and other project-related costs.
- Incorporate applicable overheads, contingencies, margins, taxes and commercial terms in the final estimation.
- Prepare detailed cost sheets, rate analysis, price schedules and commercial offers.
- Support preparation of tender BOQs and ensure that no major scope item is omitted.
- Identify deviations, exclusions, assumptions and potential commercial risks in tender documents.
- Conduct estimation benchmarking based on previous projects and market rates.




- Maintain a database of OEM prices, vendor rates, installation rates and historical project costs.
- Coordinate with Procurement for updated material and equipment pricing.
- Support tender submission by providing timely and accurate commercial inputs.
- Participate in pre-bid discussions and clarification analysis wherever required.
- Maintain proper documentation and version control of estimates and commercial submissions.

3. Tender & Commercial Responsibilities

* Analyse Eligibility Criteria, Technical Qualification Criteria and Scope of Work.

- Identify mandatory technical/commercial requirements affecting project costing.
- Review BOQ quantities against drawings and specifications.
- Prepare item-wise rate analysis and validate rates with market/OEM inputs.
- Identify free-of-cost items, client-supplied items and excluded scope.
- Assess installation and commissioning requirements and associated manpower costs.
- Evaluate subcontracting requirements and obtain competitive quotations.
- Prepare cost comparison and final price recommendation for management approval.
- Ensure estimation is aligned with the company's commercial strategy and target margins.

5. Required Skills & Competencies

* Strong understanding of BOQ preparation and quantity estimation.

- Good knowledge of project costing and rate analysis.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Good understanding of Fire & Security / ELV systems will be preferred.
- Strong command of MS Excel, including formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables and cost-sheet preparation.




- Knowledge of AutoCAD for reading drawings will be an added advantage.
- Good negotiation and vendor coordination skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under stringent tender deadlines.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to identify scope gaps, commercial risks and cost implications.

6. Educational Qualification

Essential:

- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline.

Preferred:

- Engineering qualification with experience in Fire & Safety, ELV, Security Systems or MEP estimation.

7. Experience

* 2–5 years of relevant experience in estimation, tendering, costing or pre-sales.

- Experience in Fire & Safety / ELV / Security / MEP projects will be preferred.
- Candidates with experience in preparing estimates for large infrastructure, commercial, industrial, pharma, airport, metro or corporate projects will have an added advantage.

* Accuracy of project estimates.
- Timely completion of estimates within tender deadlines.
- Percentage of estimation errors / omissions.
- Cost competitiveness of submitted quotations.
- Achievement of targeted project margins.
- Vendor/OEM quotation turnaround time.
- Accuracy of quantity take-offs and BOQ analysis.
- Effective identification of scope gaps and commercial risks.
- Quality and completeness of tender documentation.

9. Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, commercially aware and technically competent, with the ability to convert tender requirements and engineering inputs into accurate project costing. The candidate should demonstrate strong ownership, deadline management and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
