Job Summary

We are looking for a Design Engineer – Plastic with hands-on experience in automotive plastic component design and development. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and optimizing automotive interior/exterior plastic components using CATIA V5, while ensuring design feasibility, manufacturability, quality and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop automotive plastic components and trims using CATIA V5.
- Work on automotive interior/exterior components such as:

- Instrument Panel / Dashboard

- Door Trims

- Pillar Trims

- Centre Console

- Glove Box

- Arm Rest

- Decor Parts

- Bumpers
- Spoilers and other plastic components.
- Perform 3D modelling, surfacing, assembly modelling and 2D drawing.
- Perform design feasibility and tooling feasibility studies.
- Conduct Draft Analysis and Thickness Analysis.
- Ensure designs are suitable for injection moulding and mass production.
- Develop appropriate fixation, locator and attachment concepts.
- Apply GD&T; and perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Support DFMEA, DFMA and QFD activities.
- Coordinate with tooling, manufacturing, suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Support design reviews, engineering changes and resolution of design issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable automotive standards and customer requirements.
- Contribute to weight reduction, cost optimization, design improvement and manufacturability.
- Ensure timely completion and release of engineering designs and drawings.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong experience in Automotive Plastic Trim Design.




- Hands-on experience in CATIA V5.

- 2D Drawing
- Knowledge of Injection Moulding and plastic manufacturing processes.
- Plastic component design and tooling feasibility.
- Draft and thickness analysis.
- Good understanding of GD&T;.
- Knowledge of Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DFMA and QFD.
- Understanding of automotive interior/exterior trim development.
- Knowledge of applicable automotive standards such as AIS, FMVSS and ECE is an advantage.

Educational Qualification BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or related discipline.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 2–4 years of relevant experience in automotive plastic component design/development.
- Strong hands-on experience in CATIA V5.
- Experience with automotive interior or exterior plastic trims.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver designs within project timelines.
