Computer Embroidery Designer / Puncher

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Computer Embroidery Designer / Puncher to join our embroidery production team.

The candidate should have hands-on experience creating production-ready embroidery designs for multi-head industrial embroidery machines. The role involves converting artwork, logos, motifs and garment designs into accurate, clean and machine-ready embroidery files.

Key Responsibilities

- Create and digitize embroidery designs from sketches, photographs, logos and garment references.
- Prepare DST and other machine-compatible embroidery files.
- Create designs suitable for multi-head embroidery machines.
- Work with different stitch types including:
- Satin stitch
- Tatami/fill stitch
- Running stitch
- Appliqué
- Decorative stitches
- Properly set density, underlay, pull compensation, stitch direction and stitch length.
- Create clean and accurate text, logos, borders, motifs and repeat patterns.
- Make adjustments based on actual embroidery samples.
- Troubleshoot issues such as:
- Border shifting
- Uneven satin stitches
- Thread breaks
- Excessive density
- Fabric puckering
- Misalignment
- Distorted lettering
- Optimize designs for different fabrics and embroidery requirements.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure designs stitch correctly on the machine.
- Make corrections and improvements after sampling.
- Maintain organized embroidery design files and production records.

Software Skills Experience with one or more of the following:
- Wilcom
- Hatch
- Wings
- EmCAD
- Other qualified embroidery digitizing software





Strong practical knowledge of digitizing is more important than the particular software used.

Required Skills

- 2–5 years of relevant embroidery digitizing/punching experience preferred.
- Good understanding of embroidery techniques and stitch structures.
- Experience with industrial multi-head embroidery machines preferred.
- Ability to understand fabric behavior and adjust designs accordingly.
- Robust attention to detail.
- Ability to produce clean and accurate embroidery files.
- Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
- Good understanding of embroidery placement and garment construction.

Preferred Experience Candidates with experience working with Barudan, Tajima, Ricoma or similar industrial embroidery machines will be preferred.

Experience with ladies’ garments, fashion embroidery, logos, borders, motifs and repeat embroidery will be an advantage.

Practical Skill Test

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical embroidery digitizing test.

The test may include

- Digitizing a provided design/reference.
- Preparing a production-ready DST file.
- Stitching/sample evaluation.
- Making corrections based on the physical embroidery result.

Selection will be based primarily on the quality of actual embroidery output and digitizing skills, not just software knowledge.
