Business Development Executive: Clean Energy (Remote | Australian Market)

Company: Safe Planet

Location: Remote, servicing customers across Victoria, Australia

Hours: 10:00am to 7:00pm AEST, Monday to Friday

Employment type: Full-time

Start date: Immediate. We're looking for someone who can start straight away.

About Safe Planet

Protected Planet is one of Australia's fastest-growing clean energy companies, helping homeowners and businesses cut their energy costs through government-backed rebate programs and premium energy-efficient technology. We supply and install air conditioning, hot water systems, solar, battery storage, EV charging and commercial lighting, and we manage the whole journey, from first enquiry through to installation.

Our mission is simple: make clean energy accessible, affordable and hassle-free for every Australian.

Victoria is in the middle of the biggest home electrification push in its history. The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program is now legislated through to 2045, and from March 2027 end-of-life gas hot water systems in existing homes must be replaced with effective electric alternatives. Demand is not the problem. Getting clear, honest information in front of customers is.

That's the job, and with enquiries already coming in, we need someone to start immediately.

About the role

This is a consultative business development role, not a cold-call numbers game. Our customers come to us confused. They've heard there's a rebate, they don't know what they qualify for, and someone else has usually quoted them something misleading.

You're the person who makes it make sense. You'll walk customers through the right product for their property, explain exactly what rebate applies and why, confirm their eligibility properly, and hand a clean, well-qualified job to our assessment team with the appointment already booked.

Do that well and the rest of the business runs smoothly. Do it badly, and we waste an assessor's day.

What you'll be doing

Educate customers on the product range

- Handle inbound and follow-up enquiries across our full range: reverse-cycle air conditioning, heat pump and solar hot water, solar PV, battery storage, EV charging and commercial lighting.
- Match the right solution to the customer's property,

existing system and usage, not the biggest sale available.
- Explain running-cost savings, system sizing and installation expectations in plain language.

Explain the rebates accurately

- Talk customers through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program: how the discount is generated through accredited providers, what it applies to, and what it realistically takes off their upfront cost.
- Explain how VEU stacks with Solar Victoria rebates and federal incentives (STCs, battery rebates) where applicable.
- Set honest expectations. Rebate values vary by product, property and certificate pricing, and there is no such thing as a free upgrade under VEU. We don't oversell, and we don't quote numbers we can't stand behind.

Qualify eligibility before anything moves forward

- Confirm eligibility up front: property type and location, ownership or landlord consent, the existing system being replaced, income thresholds where they apply, and product eligibility.
- Identify the non-starters early and tell the customer honestly, rather than passing a dead lead down the line.
- Capture the documentation and detail the assessment team needs to proceed.

Coordinate assessments and appointments

- Work with our internal team and field assessors to book site assessments at times that suit both the customer and the run schedule.
- Be the customer's point of contact between enquiry and assessment: confirmations, reschedules, and the questions that come up in between.
- Keep the CRM (GoHighLevel) accurate: every conversation logged, every prospect at the right stage, every note useful to the next person who opens the record.

Own your pipeline

- Follow up with quoted and pending customers consistently so nothing goes cold.
- Report on pipeline health, conversion and appointment volume.
- Feed what you're hearing back to the team: objections, competitor claims,

gaps in our materials.

What you'll bring

Essential

- Available to start immediately , with no notice period or a very short one.
- 3+ years in business development, consultative sales or a customer-facing advisory role, with a track record of hitting targets.
- Excellent spoken and written English, and a phone manner that builds trust quickly with Australian customers.
- The ability to explain technical and regulatory detail simply and patiently. This role lives or dies on that skill.
- Strong organisation and follow-through across a high volume of live conversations.
- CRM discipline and comfort working in a structured pipeline.
- A reliable home office setup: stable high-speed internet, a quiet environment, and full availability across our AEST hours.

Highly regarded

- Direct experience with the VEU program, Solar Victoria rebates, STCs or similar government energy schemes.
- Background in solar, HVAC, home improvement or energy retail sales.
- Experience with GoHighLevel or a comparable CRM.
- Experience selling into the Australian market from a remote or offshore team.

How you work

- Honest. We'd rather lose a sale than mislead a customer about a rebate.
- Self-directed. You're remote, and we manage outcomes, not keystrokes.
- Collaborative. Assessment, quoting and follow-up all depend on the quality of what you hand over.

Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. If you're genuinely good with people (you build relationships easily, you listen properly, and you can explain a complicated thing clearly), we want to hear from you. We can teach you the products and the rebate programs. We can't teach you how to make a customer trust you. What we offer

- A fully remote role with a genuine Australian-market client base.
- Warm, inbound-led enquiries. You're advising, not cold-calling from a list.
- Full training on our product range and every rebate program we work with, starting from day one.
- A fast-growing company where business development sets the pace for the rest of the business.

Ready to start now? Apply with your CV and let us know your earliest start date. We're moving quickly and will prioritise candidates who can join immediately.
