Role & responsibilities

A. Supplier Delivery & Material Planning

1. Prepare, review, and monitor vendor delivery schedules in line with production and dispatch requirements.
2. Ensure timely communication of delivery schedules and changes to suppliers.
3. Monitor supplier commitments and ensure adherence to committed delivery dates.
4. Review daily/weekly supplier delivery status and identify potential delays or risks.
5. Drive expediting of critical and overdue purchase orders to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
6. Coordinate with PPC/Planning, Expeditor, Quality, Purchase, Stores, and Production teams for alignment of material requirements.
7. Monitor material shortages and develop recovery plans in coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
8. Ensure smooth and timely material flow from suppliers to production/dispatch.
9. Review and escalate critical shortages and supplier delays to management with appropriate action plans. B. Vendor Development & Supplier Management
10. Identify, evaluate, and develop current suppliers based on business requirements, technical capability, capacity, quality, delivery, and commercial considerations.
11. Conduct and/or coordinate supplier capability assessments and supplier qualification activities.
12. Support supplier onboarding, evaluation, approval, and periodic performance reviews.
13. Develop alternate/backup suppliers for critical materials and processes to reduce supply risks.
14. Monitor supplier capacity, production readiness, and capability for new and existing requirements.
15. Maintain and periodically review supplier databases, performance records, and development status. C.



New Product / Sample Development
16. Coordinate with suppliers for sample development, trial production, and first-off/sample approval activities.
17. Coordinate PPAP/documentation requirements with suppliers and internal Quality/Engineering teams.
18. Track development timelines and ensure timely completion of supplier development activities.
19. Follow up on pending approvals, technical clarifications, and supplier action points.
20. Support cross-functional teams in resolving supplier-related technical and process issues. D. Supplier Quality & Improvement
21. Coordinate with Quality and suppliers for resolution of supplier quality issues.
22. Monitor supplier NCRs, CAPA, corrective actions, and improvement plans.
23. Follow up with suppliers for timely closure of quality-related actions.
24. Participate in supplier performance reviews and improvement initiatives.
25. Identify recurring supplier issues and initiate corrective/preventive actions.
26. Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and process capability. E. Expediting & Critical Order Management
27. Drive daily follow-up with suppliers for production, readiness, and dispatch status.

Track critical and overdue orders and ensure timely recovery.
29. Coordinate with suppliers for priority production and dispatch of critical materials.
30. Visit suppliers, wherever required, for expediting, capacity review, development, and issue resolution.
31. Escalate major supply risks and delays to management with clear status and recovery actions.
32. Ensure effective communication between suppliers and internal departments for urgent requirements. Maintain accurate supplier schedules, commitments, correspondence, performance records, development trackers, and SCM-related documentation.

Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly SCM MIS covering supplier delivery performance, shortages, overdue orders, supplier development, and critical issues. Guide and monitor Engineers/Executives/Expeditors, allocate responsibilities, review follow-up activities, and ensure timely closure of assigned actions. Identify supplier and supply-chain risks related to critical suppliers, single-source items, capacity constraints, long lead-time materials, and recurring delays; develop appropriate contingency and recovery plans.

Drive continuous improvement in supplier delivery and SCM processes, support ERP/SCM system implementation, develop alternate suppliers where required, and ensure continuity of material supply as per production and customer requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering. 9-10 years of experience Supply Chain, Vendor Development, Procurement, or Manufacturing Operations.
