Purpose/Objective The Automation Engineer shall be responsible for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and optimization of the terminal automation system to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operations of the POL Terminal.

The role involves managing PLC/SCADA systems, flow metering systems, tank gauging systems, communication networks, field instrumentation, and integration with customer and ERP systems while ensuring statutory and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities of Role

- Ensure smooth functioning of terminal automation systems including PLC, SCADA, HMI, and associated hardware.
- Monitor and maintain loading automation systems for tank truck and railway wagon loading operations.
- Attend breakdowns and restore automation systems within stipulated timelines.
- Coordinate with automation OEMs, service providers, and vendors for issue resolution.
- Maintain system health, backups, software licenses, and configuration records.
- Maintain Mass Flow Meters (MFM), flow transmitters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, and associated instruments.
- Monitor calibration schedules and coordinate periodic calibration of field instruments.
- Monitor and maintain Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) systems including level, temperature, and density measurement devices.
- Ensure accurate tank inventory reporting and reconciliation.
- Maintain PLC panels, Remote I/O panels, switches, communication cables, and network architecture.
- Ensure uninterrupted communication between field devices, control room systems, and server infrastructure.
- Manage LAN, industrial communication networks, MODBUS, Ethernet/IP, and communication interfaces.




- Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules for automation equipment.
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory for automation systems.
- Conduct periodic health checks and system audits.
- Ensure compliance with OISD, PESO, electrical safety, and company standards.
- Maintain AMC and annual maintenance records.
- Generate monthly maintenance reports and improvement plans.
- Support dispatch operations for TT and railway loading.
- Minimize downtime through effective maintenance practices.
- Maintain all automation-related SOPs, checklists, calibration records, and maintenance logs.
- Evaluate current technologies for improving reliability and operational efficiency.
- Execute system modifications and enhancement activities.
- Coordinate with customers, OEMs, contractors, and service providers.
- Monitor AMC performance and ensure compliance with service Operation Initiatives Initiatives in improve work efficiency, focus on reduction, elimination and repetition of activities for safety improvement and smooth operation. Operation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Guidelines Initiate, Checks, Review and implementation of SOP & Checklists of various maintenance activiites.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor's degree (B. Tech) in Automation, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or equivalent - At least 3 years of as tech lead (monitoring and control) in software development company, preferably handled large software projects.
