JOB SUMMARY
The Underwriting Manager is responsible for assessing client risk profiles, securing competitive terms from insurers, and ensuring smooth placement and issuance of policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Evaluate client risk profiles and prepare underwriting submissions for placement with insurers.
• Obtain competitive quotes from multiple insurers and prepare comparative terms for clients. Negotiate premium rates, terms and conditions with insurers to secure optimal coverage for clients.
• Coordinate with insurers for policy issuance, endorsements and renewals within agreed turnaround times.
• Maintain underwriting records, MIS reports and market intelligence on insurer appetite and pricing trends.
• Liaise with sales and servicing teams to align on client requirements and track market developments, current products and regulatory changes affecting underwriting.




QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Graduate in any discipline (Commerce, Insurance, Risk Management or related field preferred); a diploma/certification in Insurance or Risk Management is an added advantage.
• 5 –6 years' experience in underwriting or insurance placement, preferably with a broking firm or insurance company.
KEY SKILLS
• Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles and IRDAI regulations.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with insurers.
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple placements and renewals simultaneously against deadlines.
