Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced tax professional to advise Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNIs), promoter families, family offices, and closely held business groups on personal taxation, wealth structuring, estate planning and foreign exchange regulations. The role involves end-to-end advisory on Indian and cross-border tax matters, ESOP taxation, overseas investments, FEMA regulations and family office governance. The candidate will work closely with promoters, family office executives, investment teams and legal advisors to manage complex tax and regulatory matters.

The focus on governance, personal tax planning, overseas investments (ODI/OI) and family office operations is consistent with emerging Family Office Advisory practices.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Tax & Private Client Advisory

- Advise promoter families, business owners and UHNIs on Indian personal tax matters.
- Manage tax planning for salary, capital gains, dividends, interest and other investment income.
- Review and oversee personal tax return compliance.
- Provide tax-efficient wealth preservation and succession planning solutions.
- Advise on tax implications of family settlements, trusts, gifts and inheritance structures.

ESOP & Executive Compensation

- Advise senior executives and promoters on ESOP taxation.
- Review tax treatment of stock options, RSUs and other equity-linked compensation.
- Support mobility-related tax implications for internationally mobile executives.
- Coordinate reporting and withholding requirements for equity compensation plans.

FEMA, Exchange Control & Overseas Investments

- Advise clients on Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) transactions.
- Support structuring and regulatory compliance for Overseas Direct Investments (ODI).
- Advise on Overseas Investments (OI/OPI) and cross-border wealth diversification strategies.




- Review FEMA implications relating to foreign assets, overseas entities and global investments.
- Manage RBI reporting and compliance requirements associated with overseas investments.

Family offices increasingly utilise ODI, OI/OPI and hybrid global investment structures while balancing regulatory and reporting obligations.

Family Office Advisory

- Assist in setting up and operationalising family office structures.
- Advise on governance frameworks, succession planning and wealth transition.
- Support investment holding and ownership structuring.
- Coordinate with investment managers, bankers, legal counsels and trustees.
- Develop policies and processes for efficient family office operations.

Regulatory & Transaction Advisory

- Advise on FEMA, Companies Act and regulatory aspects impacting promoter groups.
- Support transaction structuring, acquisitions, divestments and shareholder arrangements.
- Conduct tax due diligence for family-held investments and businesses.
- Assist in evaluating domestic and international holding structures.

Qualification & Experience

- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
- 5-12 years of experience in Personal Tax, Private Client Services, Family Office Advisory or Global Mobility Tax.
- Strong exposure to:
- Personal taxation
- ESOP taxation
- FEMA regulations
- LRS
- ODI / OI / OPI
- Trust and succession planning
- Wealth structuring for promoter families

Preferred Skills

- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience handling Indian promoter groups and UHNIs.
- Ability to manage complex cross-border tax and regulatory matters.
- Robust drafting, analytical and project management capabilities.
- Experience working in Big 4 Family Office / Private Client Services practice will be highly preferred.
