Job Purpose

Promotesand restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaboratingwith physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical andpsychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assignedteam members.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Provideprofessional nursing care with an assigned unit according to establishedstandards and procedures.

Providecomprehensive care to assigned patients.

Followspolicy and delivers designated nursing interventions to assigned patients thatare consistent with the documented medical plan of care.

Takesthe nursing history, summarizes data and states nursing diagnoses / patientcare needs.

Organizeand maintain patient file and reports as per the MRD requirements in allshifts.

Alwaysgreet with smile to patient and companion for their well-being.

Begroomed always.

Observesand records signs, symptoms and behaviours including the physiological statusof patients reports, assessment changes to the concerned authority.

Ensuresmooth functioning of admission, discharge and transfer procedures and assistsothers with patients activities and care with cooperative manner.

Followhandover-takeover process accurately with written/online notes.

Ensureintroduction of next shift team member to patient and patient side medicationcheck in each shift.

Executesphysicians orders for all assigned patients safely and properly administersmedications and treatments. Strictly adhere read back policy

Ensureidentification safety for collection of specimens during collection and tillthe report informed to consultant.





Participatein consultants rounds and assist by giving relevant information based onnursing assessment/reassessment and observations.

Carryout routine check at each handover that all equipments are in working order.

Keepequipments in charging.

Ensurethat all items used for patients inclusive of medications, surgical suppliesare duly recorded and charged.

Ensureduring internal transfer except the ordered medicine all other drug to bereturned before shifting to other unit.

Maintainpatients and accompanies safety by taking preventive measures againstaccidents.

Accuratelyrecords and reports incidents.

Ensureevery error to be recorded.

Ensurestrict infection control protocol and bio-waste guidelines to be followed for24x7.

Ensurethat daily briefing points and sign off are mandatory for day to day update.

Specific Unit Related Nursing Care:

Receivesneonates from labor Room/OT and also from OPD.

Monitorsvital signs and report abnormality.

Initiatesand maintains Thermal Stabilization.

Observessymptoms/laboratory values that may indicate temperature instability.

InitiatesPhototherapy and monitors during the procedure.

Demonstrate/verbalizecorrect calculation of emergency medications.

Assistthe physician with intubation and stabilization of tube placement.





Administerscorrect dosage of routine admission medications.

Identifiesfeeding status (NPO, nipple, breastfeeding).

Preparesappropriate feeding using clean technique.

Assesssuck and swallow during nipple feed.

Demonstrate / verbalizeappropriate breastfeeding techniques.

Educatesparents on breast feeding, bonding and home care.

Giveappropriate nursing care to a neonate on ventilator.

Assistin ventilator tubing change and setting change.

Havefull knowledge about the common diagnostic procedures done for neonate.

Havebasic knowledge of common diseases found in neonate.

IPSG/GCS Prepare Nursing care plan, deliver and document.

AccurateI/O chart

Monitorpatient on ventilator.

Transportationof Neonate to other Facility

Responsibleto carry out Critical Value Protocol
