Role & responsibilities

1. Execute chemical process scale-up activities from bench scale to pilot scale and ensure smooth execution of experimental, scale-up and validation batches.

2. Optimize process parameters, monitor critical operating conditions and troubleshoot batch/process variations.

3. Ensure prompt and effective execution of approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process instructions and safety procedures.

4. Prepare, review and maintain Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), batch sheets, SOPs, equipment logbooks and other required process documentation.

5. Ensure complete and accurate recording of process parameters, observations, sampling, results and deviations during pilot plant batches.

6. Coordinate raw-material planning, availability and indenting required for pilot plant experiments and process execution.

7. Coordinate and/or supervise CIP/SIP, equipment cleaning, line clearance and readiness activities, wherever applicable to the pilot plant.

Monitor equipment condition and coordinate calibration, preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance activities to minimize operational interruptions.

9. Demonstrate and supervise trainee chemists/scientists, officers, operators and contract manpower in technical and operational activities.

10. Develop and implement improved methodologies and techniques to enhance process efficiency, safety, yield, quality and commercial viability.

11. Ensure adherence to approved protocols, process safety standards, GMP requirements and plant discipline to maintain a secure and productive working culture.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Knowledge of microbiology techniques, distillation, microfiltration, chromatography

2. Handling fermenters (R&D;, pilot scale)
