Role & responsibilities

Risk Management & Assurance

- Champion a Goal Zero / No Harm safety culture and visible safety leadership on all drilling/workover activities.
- Coach and mentor rig supervisors, company drilling reps, and contractor HSE advisors on safety leadership, risk ownership, and safe work practices.
- Lead and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-job safetanalyses, and lessons-learned sessions.
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of risk registers for drilling/workover/well services activities, with explicit ownership and tracking of controls to ALARP.
- Conduct and review HSE risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP, JSA/JHA, and permit-to-work (PTW) audits for drilling/workover and well interventions.
- Facilitate and track closure of actions from safety observations, audits, inspections, and incident investigations (including flash reports and detailed incident reports).

Compliance & Management Systems

- Ensure drilling/workover/well services activities comply with company HSE management system, bridging documents, and regulatory requirements (OISD guidelines, DGMS regulations, PESO, CPCB, State PCB, etc.).
- Review and approve contractor HSE plans, procedures, emergency response plans, and training matrices for drilling contractors and service companies.
- Maintain and improve operational safety procedures, standards, and HSE critical equipment performance standards for drilling.

Inspections, Audits & Incident Management

- Plan and execute routine HSE inspections and audits on rigs, camps, bases, and support activities (onshore and, if applicable, offshore).
- Lead or support incident investigations (near misses, LTI, spills, process safety events), ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions,



and timely reporting to management and regulators as required.
- Ensure drills (emergency, blowout, H2S, fire, spill) are conducted regularly, are effective, and are properly documented.

Training & Competence

- Identify HSE training needs for drilling teams and contractors; deliver or coordinate training (induction, task-specific, behavioural safety, H2S, confined space, lifting, etc.).
- Support competence assurance for HSE-critical roles and verify training/certification compliance (e.g., OPITO, IADC, H2S, first aid, etc., as relevant).

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

- Collect, analyse, and report HSE performance data (leading and lagging indicators) for drilling operations.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly HSE reports, statistics, and presentations for drilling management and corporate HSE.
- Track and report on environmental aspects (waste management, emissions, spills, water use) and ensure compliance with environmental approvals and monitoring conditions.

Contractor & Interface Management

- Work with procurement and drilling teams to evaluate contractor HSE capability during tendering (HSE questionnaires, pre-qualification, bridging documents).
- Ensure contractor activities align with company HSE expectations through regular interface meetings, joint inspections, and performance reviews.

Preferred candidate profile

- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related) or a recognized diploma in Engineering.
- Preferably (Not Mandatory) with Additional qualifications in HSE (e.g., Diploma in Engineering (AICTE)NEBOSH IGC/Diploma, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- 8- 10 years of HSE experience in oil & gas, with at least 57 years focused on drilling/workover and well operations.
