Job Description:

TCI Foundation invites applications for one (1) position of Optometrist purely on contractual basis. The selected candidate on this position would be required to provide optometric services to the truck drivers and allied population plying on national and state highways.

(i) Posting Location:

The position shall be based at following location:

(a) Auto Nagar, Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh- one position

(ii) Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and treat ocular diseases

• Prescribe, fit and adjust eyeglasses and other vision aids

• Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options

• Answer questions and provide advise to patients regarding vision and optical issues.

• Deliver outstanding customer service through all patient interactions.

• Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice

(iii) Working Hours: 9000 hrs to 1730 hrs

(iv) Required Skills:

• Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions





• Solid interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds

• Excellent customer service skills

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

• General computer proficiency

• Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability

(v) Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree/Diploma/Certificate Course in optometric from a recognized college

• Active optometry license

• Two years of optometrist experience preferred

(vi) Nature of appointment: The appointment will be on contract basis initially for a period of one year and thereafter extendable for specified period based on performance appraisal to be assessed for work output, personal attributes, functional competency etc and continuation of project by the Grantor.

(vii) Reporting: Immediate Reporting will be to Sr. Vice President, TCIL or any person authorised by him and shall keep them fully informed of all steps and actions taken by the Consultant in the performance of its obligations.

(viii) Age: Upper age limit is 50 years (may be relaxed in exceptionally qualified/ experienced candidates) and ready to travel extensively.

(ix) Deliverables: The Optometrist will be required to submit a monthly activity report and annual report to Sr. Vice President, TCIL. Performance appraisal would include review of monthly activity reports, camps conducted, timely completion of activities & innovations done and annual assessment.
