- Program, set up, and run CMMs (e.g., Zeiss/Hexagon/Mitutoyo) for first-article, PPAP, layout, SPC studies, and capability verification.
- Create and validate CMM measurement routines from CAD models and drawings (GD&T;: datum schemes, profile, position, flatness, cylindricity, runout).
- Perform calibration of CMMs and precision instruments (height gauges, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, plug gauges, surface plates) with documented procedures, traceability, and uncertainty budgets.
- Own Measurement System Analysis: plan and execute GR&R;, bias/linearity studies; implement corrective actions to achieve acceptable %GRR and ndc.
- Prepare and maintain calibration master list, schedules, certificates, stickers, and out-of-tolerance handling, including quarantine and rework disposition.
- Analyze inspection data; publish reports (FAI/PPAP layout, capability Cp/Cpk, trend charts)
and communicate results to cross-functional teams.
- Support root-cause analysis for dimensional nonconformities using 8D, fishbone, and DOE; drive corrective/preventive actions.
- Manage CMM fixtures, probes, styli, qualification spheres; perform daily verification checks and environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity).
- Maintain document control aligned to ISO/IEC 17025, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements; support audits.
- Train operators and engineers on GD&T; interpretation, gauge handling, and metrology best practices; enforce EHS and 5S in the lab.
Preferred candidate profile
3- 8 years in metrology/CMM programming and calibration within automotive/precision manufacturing; experience with PPAP and TS/IATF audits.
