Job Title: Manager - Industry Relations & Institutional Partnerships

Location: Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur, OMR, Chennai

Reports to: Deputy Director (with functional coordination with Placement Cell and Academic Departments)

Experience: 3-7 years, preferably in corporate HR/CSR/L&D;, industry academia liaison, B2B partnerships, or institutional business development. Prior experience in an educational institution is a plus but not required corporate facing negotiation experience is more valuable than academic background for this role.

Role Summary

HCAS is building a dedicated Industry Relations function to convert its existing and future Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) from paper agreements into active pipelines of student value internships, placements, faculty exchange, industrial visits, and guest lecture programs. This is a standalone, outcomes owned role, not an academic add on responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Audit and reactivate all existing MOUs build a live tracker of every signed MOU, current status (active/dormant/expired), named point of contact at the partner organization, and historical value delivered (internships placed, visits conducted, sessions held). This is the first 30 day deliverable.

Own the full MOU lifecycle going forward identification of relevant partner organizations (prioritizing OMR-corridor IT/ITES companies, and sector relevant employers for MBA, MCA, Biotech, Microbiology, Social Work, VisCom programs), negotiation, drafting coordination with legal/administration, signing logistics, and critically post signing activation.

Convert MOUs into scheduled, recurring activity: minimum quarterly industrial visits per active MOU, faculty exchange or guest lecture slots per semester, and a documented internship pipeline feeding into the Placement Cell.





Build and maintain an MOU ROI dashboard track per partner: internships generated, placements generated, faculty/student engagement hours, and renewal status. Report this monthly to the Deputy Director.

Coordinate directly with the Placement Officer to ensure MOU driven internship and hiring leads feed into the placement pipeline rather than existing as a separate, unconnected relationship.

Coordinate with Academic Departments (via VP Academics) to schedule curriculum linked MOU deliverables industrial visits, guest lectures, faculty exchange within the existing academic calendar.

Represent HCAS at industry events, corporate CSR/campus outreach forums, and sector associations to build new partnership pipelines, particularly for underserved programs (MSW via NGO partnerships, VisCom via media industry partnerships).

Maintain partner facing communication cadence quarterly check-ins with every active partner, not just onboarding stage contact.

Key Performance Indicators (first 2 quarters)

Number of dormant MOUs reactivated with at least one documented activity. Number of new internship placements sourced directly through MOU relationships. Number of industrial visits/faculty exchange sessions conducted per quarter. MOU ROI dashboard built and operational by end of Quarter 1.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Solid interpersonal and negotiation skills comfortable cold approaching corporate HR/CSR teams. Organized, tracker driven, comfortable owning a dashboard/reporting cadence without being chased for it. Prior exposure to corporate partnerships, CSR, campus recruitment, or institutional business development strongly preferred. Based in or willing to be based in Chennai/OMR corridor; frequent travel to partner offices required.
