About the Role

We are hiring an architect, not a modeler. At Urbanlion, BIM is a tool — it is not the job. We're looking for someone who can think through a design problem, develop a concept, work out how something should be built, and then use Revit to produce it.

You'll work on live U.S.-based residential, commercial, and industrial projects with real ownership of your packages from early on.

The scope here grows as fast as you do.

What You'll Own

Design thinking, first

- Understand the design intent behind a project, not just the instruction attached to a task
- Develop concepts and work through design problems rather than waiting for a resolved answer to model
- Make sensible design and detailing calls within the brief, and be able to explain why you made them
- Question a drawing that doesn't make sense instead of reproducing it faithfully

Your models and your drawing sets

- Build and maintain Revit models and construction document sets you can stand behind — plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules
- Translate design intent into drawings a contractor can actually build from
- Develop architectural details that hold up against project requirements and standards
- Keep model organization, views, sheets and annotations clean enough that someone else can pick them up without asking you

Coordination — proactively, not on request

- Coordinate your architectural work against Structural, MEP and consultant information
- Find clashes and inconsistencies before someone else finds them for you




- Raise coordination issues early and in writing, with enough context that the reader can act on it
- Bring in consultant updates and revisions accurately, first time

U.S. standards

- Build a working understanding of U.S. construction practice and documentation standards
- Apply IBC, ADA and project-specific requirements as you develop them
- Learn U.S. materials, methods and detailing conventions — quickly, and largely on your own steam
- Follow client-specific BIM standards without needing to be reminded what they are

Quality — yours to catch

- Check your own work before it goes anywhere. The reviewer should be looking for design questions, not your typos
- Find and fix your own modeling and documentation errors
- Take feedback from seniors, PMs, and clients and make sure the same comment doesn't come back twice
- Hit your deadlines, and flag early when something is going to slip

The team

- Work alongside Senior BIM Designers, PMs, architects, engineers and consultants
- Come to coordination and design reviews with a point of view
- Communicate progress and technical issues clearly, without waiting to be asked
- Help junior team members on Revit and documentation when they need it

- Think like an architect and execute like a technician. You can work out what should be built and why, then produce it accurately. Both halves matter.
- Move before being asked. You see the clash, the missing dimension, the consultant file that never arrived — and you chase it rather than noting it and waiting.
- Own the outcome, not the task. "I modeled what I was given" isn't the standard. "I made sure the set was right" is.
- Write clearly. A lot of coordination happens in writing, across time zones. If you can explain a problem in an email someone can act on without calling you, you'll go far.

- Want to grow fast and stay. We're looking for someone who becomes the go-to person on their packages over the next few years, not someone passing through.
- Take technical feedback well. Not defensively, not passively. You ask what you missed, and it doesn't recur.

This probably isn't for you if:

- Your experience is primarily production modeling or drafting to instruction, with no design involvement
- You want a fully defined role with every standard documented and a reviewer checking everything before it ships

What You'll Need

Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Civil Engineering or a related field considered where there's genuine design exposure.

Experience: 2–4 years in architectural design, BIM, or construction documentation — with real involvement in design development, not only production. Hands-on Revit on architectural projects. U.S. project experience is a plus, not a requirement;
we'll take design judgment over familiarity.

Technical

- Good to advanced Autodesk Revit
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Solid understanding of architectural construction drawings and detailing
- Understanding of building materials and construction methods
- Basic multidisciplinary BIM coordination
- Ability to read, interpret, and question architectural and construction documents

Nice to have

- U.S. construction documentation experience
- Working knowledge of IBC and ADA
- Experience coordinating Architectural, Structural, and MEP drawings
- Experience with international clients or project teams

In the first year, we'd expect you to:

- Deliver models and document sets that are accurate and coordinated the first time
- Contribute design thinking to your packages, not just execution
- Hit agreed project timelines, and raise a flag early when something won't land
- Follow and help improve company and project BIM standards
- Cut recurring errors to near zero through your own checking
- Spot coordination issues and escalate them before they become rework
- Show visible improvement in Revit, documentation, and U.S. standards quarter on quarter
- Take on progressively larger and more complex packages without being asked to
