Role Overview -
The Resort General Manager will have overall responsibility for the operational, commercial and guest experience performance of the property.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing accommodation, restaurants, bars, guest services, events, weddings, private bookings, activities, vendors, teams, property maintenance and financial performance.
The GM will lead department heads, maintain high service and operational standards, manage costs and revenues, and ensure that the entire property operates as one coordinated hospitality business throughout the year.
What We Expect From You -
You should be a visible and hands-on leader who understands every part of the operation while empowering department heads to effectively manage their respective teams.
The GM should be equally comfortable reviewing room standards, discussing food quality with the Chef, analysing costs with Finance, resolving a guest concern, negotiating with a vendor, conducting a wedding briefing or leading operations during a major music event.
The ultimate responsibility of the General Manager is to ensure exceptional guest experiences, strong team performance, safe and productive operations, successful events, effective cost control and sustainable profitability while protecting and strengthening the reputation of the resort.
Key Responsibilities -
- Take complete responsibility for the day-to-day operations and performance of the resort.
- Lead and coordinate Rooms, Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B;, Kitchen, Bars, Events, Security, Maintenance, Reservations, HR, Finance and Administration.
- Conduct regular operational meetings, property inspections and performance reviews with department heads.
- Establish and maintain SOPs, service standards, reporting structures and accountability across departments.
- Ensure strong management presence during peak periods, weekends, holidays, weddings and major events.
Rooms & Guest Experience -
- Oversee the complete operation of the resort’s rooms, including reservations, occupancy, rates, packages, housekeeping, maintenance and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure smooth guest journeys from reservation and arrival through stay, dining, activities and departure.
- Personally oversee VIPs, repeat guests, special requests and high-profile guests where required.
- Monitor guest feedback and online reviews, ensuring complaints are resolved quickly and recurring issues are addressed operationally.
- Develop stay packages and personalised experiences for birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, honeymoons and other occasions.
Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar Operations -
- Oversee restaurant, kitchen and cocktail bar operations, ensuring consistently high standards of food, beverages, service, hygiene and presentation.
- Work closely with the Chef and F&B;/Bar leadership on menus, seasonal offerings, cocktails and guest experience.
- Monitor food and beverage costs, wastage, portion control, stock movement, inventory and overall departmental profitability.
- Ensure food safety, beverage storage, responsible alcohol service and applicable compliance requirements are consistently maintained.
- Regularly review restaurant and bar performance, guest feedback, covers, average spend and opportunities to improve revenue.
Private Bookings, Weddings & Special Occasions -
- Oversee private dining, group bookings, birthdays, proposals, weddings and other celebrations from planning through execution.
- Coordinate requirements between clients, planners, vendors and internal departments including accommodation, F&B;, kitchen, bars, security and operations.
- Review packages, quotations, menus, layouts, entertainment, accommodation requirements and operational timelines.
- Ensure commitments made to clients remain commercially viable and are delivered to the expected standard.
Events & Entertainment -
- Lead resort operations for large-scale music events, entertainment programmes and high-footfall occasions.
- Coordinate with promoters, production companies, artists, security agencies, vendors and internal teams.
- Oversee operational planning for guest entry, capacity, VIP areas, bars, F&B;, security, crowd movement, parking, backstage areas, artist hospitality and emergency access.
- Conduct pre-event briefings, ensure adequate staffing and management coverage and oversee event-day operations.
- Maintain contingency plans for weather, medical situations, power failures, crowd incidents and other operational risks.
- Conduct post-event reviews covering operations, incidents, revenue, costs and areas for improvement.
Activities, Packages & Revenue -
- Oversee year-round resort activities, live entertainment and guest experiences.
- Work with relevant teams to develop accommodation, dining, celebration and experience-led packages.
- Drive revenue across rooms, restaurants, bars, events, weddings and private bookings while protecting the overall guest experience.
- Monitor key commercial indicators including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, F&B; revenue, average spend and event profitability.
- Support relationships with travel partners, wedding planners, event organisers, corporate clients and other business partners.
Financial Management & Cost Control -
- Take responsibility for achieving approved revenue, cost and profitability targets.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting and monthly P&L; reviews with ownership and Finance.
- Monitor payroll, food and beverage costs, utilities, maintenance, procurement and departmental expenses.
- Maintain strong controls over discounts, complimentary services, cash handling, purchasing, inventory and revenue leakage.
- Review departmental performance against budgets and implement corrective measures where required.
Leadership -
- Lead approximately 100 employees through an effective department-head and management structure.
- Work with HR on manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management and retention.
- Establish clear responsibilities and performance expectations for department heads and managers.
- Develop managers and supervisors into stronger leaders while maintaining accountability for departmental performance.
- Address performance, disciplinary and workplace issues fairly and professionally.
- Build a culture based on guest service, teamwork, respect, accountability and continuous improvement.
Vendors, Procurement & Inventory -
- Manage key suppliers, contractors and service providers across F&B;, housekeeping, maintenance, security, events, entertainment and other operational areas.
- Regularly review vendor pricing, service quality, reliability, contracts and performance.
- Maintain appropriate controls for purchasing, receiving, storage and issuance.
- Ensure regular inventory counts and investigate unusual stock variances, wastage, breakage, misuse or losses.
- Maintain control over major operational assets and equipment.
Property Maintenance & Beachfront Operations -
- Ensure rooms, restaurants, bars, kitchens, guest areas, event spaces, back-of-house areas and outdoor facilities are maintained to high standards.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules covering electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, water systems and other critical infrastructure.
- Pay particular attention to coastal-property challenges including humidity, corrosion, salt exposure, drainage and weather deterioration.
- Maintain monsoon and severe-weather preparedness plans and ensure guest-facing maintenance issues are resolved quickly.
Safety, Security & Compliance -
- Maintain appropriate security, fire safety, food safety, emergency response and incident-management procedures.
- Ensure suitable security coverage for normal operations, nightlife, weddings and large events.
- Maintain procedures for medical emergencies, evacuation, severe weather, crowd incidents and other operational risks.
- Ensure the property complies with applicable hospitality, food, alcohol, labour, entertainment, fire, environmental and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain an organised calendar for licences, permits, inspections and renewals.
Brand Reputation & Management -
- Ensure the physical property, service standards and guest experience consistently reflect the positioning and reputation of the resort.
- Coordinate with Marketing on packages, events, experiences and promotions to ensure advertised offerings can be operationally delivered.
- Provide ownership with regular reports covering rooms, F&B;, events, guest satisfaction, staffing, costs, maintenance, risks and overall business performance.
- Escalate significant financial, legal, safety, operational or reputational issues promptly and recommend appropriate solutions.
Candidate Requirement -
- Minimum 10 years of hospitality experience with substantial senior management experience in hotels, resorts or lifestyle hospitality.
- Previous experience as General Manager, Resort Manager, Hotel Manager, Director of Operations or a comparable senior role preferred.
- Strong experience managing large multidisciplinary teams and department heads.
- Strong understanding of both Rooms and F&B; operations, including restaurants and bars.
- Experience with weddings, private functions, entertainment and large-scale events is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial and financial understanding including P&L;, budgeting, forecasting, revenue management and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage guests, VIPs, artists, event organisers, wedding clients, vendors and internal teams professionally.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality systems, SOPs, inventory controls and operational reporting.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive while managing multiple departments and high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, late hours and major event periods when required.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, discretion and accountability.
