Job Title: Quality Engineer – Power Boilers
Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Reports To: Quality Manager / Head – QA/QC

Role Summary

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that power boiler components and systems meet applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications throughout design, fabrication, welding, testing, and inspection stages. The role involves close coordination with production, welding, NDT, and third-party inspection agencies to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Inspection Test Plans (ITP) for boiler components (drums, headers, tubes, pressure parts, etc.)
Ensure compliance with codes such as ASME Section I, II, V, VIII, IX, IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations), PED, and other applicable national/international standards
Conduct in-process and final inspection of fabrication, welding, and assembly activities
Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ)
Coordinate and witness NDT activities (RT, UT, MPI, DPT) and review NDT reports for acceptance




Liaise with third-party inspection agencies (TPI) and statutory bodies (e.g., IBR inspectors) for approvals and certifications
Conduct hydro testing / pneumatic testing of pressure parts and boiler assemblies
Investigate non-conformances (NCRs), root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, material test certificates (MTCs), and traceability logs
Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001, customer audits, statutory audits)
Ensure raw material inspection and verification against specifications (plates, tubes, forgings, fasteners)
Drive continuous improvement in quality systems and reduce rework/rejection rates

Qualification & Experience
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical
5–10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering within Power Boiler / Pressure Vessel / Heavy Fabrication industry
Certification in IBR / ASME Section IX and NDT Level II (RT/UT/MPI/DPT) preferred

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
