Job DescriptionJob Title - AccountantIndustry - IT Services / Web Software DevelopmentLocation - Mumbai, MaharashtraEmployment Type - Full-timeExperience Required - 3–5 YearsReporting To - Senior Accountant / Finance ManagerJob PurposeThe Accountant will handle day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and support statutory compliance under the guidance of senior finance staff. The role requires working knowledge of service-industry accounting — client billing, revenue recognition, and reconciliations — ideally within an IT services, software development, or SaaS environment.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting & BookkeepingHandle day-to-day accounting entries and assist with monthly book closurePass journal entries — provisions, accruals, prepayments, and adjustmentsProcess accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank & cash accountingAssist in preparing monthly financial reportsService Accounting & BillingPrepare and track client invoices for time & material, fixed-price, and retainer engagementsAssist with revenue recognition, including unbilled/accrued revenue on ongoing projectsTrack project-wise billing status and follow up on milestones due for invoicingCoordinate with project managers and delivery teams on billing and cost inputsAssist with invoicing and collections for export/overseas clients, including forex-related entriesAccounting SoftwareWorking knowledge of Tally / Tally Prime, Zoho Books, or QuickBooksExtract ledger and basic MIS reports; ERP exposure is an added advantageGood working knowledge of Excel — Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUPGST & TaxationAssist with GST accounting on services (SAC codes), GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and GSTR-2B reconciliationSupport documentation for export of services / zero-rated supplies and LUT complianceSupport Input Tax Credit reconciliationAssist in TDS computation, deduction,



and filingCoordinate with tax consultants and auditors as neededReconciliations & ControlsPerform bank, vendor, and customer reconciliationsReconcile foreign currency receipts and forex gain/loss entries, where applicableSupport GST reconciliation and resolve basic accounting discrepanciesAssist in reconciling balance sheet schedulesAudit & ComplianceSupport statutory, tax, and internal audits with required data and schedulesPrepare audit schedules and supporting documentationAssist with month-end and year-end closing activitiesMIS & ReportingAssist in preparing monthly MIS — receivables ageing, cash flow, and revenue-by-client reportsSupport analysis of project profitability and expensesReport on billing and collection status as requiredTeam & Cross-functional CoordinationCoordinate with delivery, project management, sales, HR, and admin teamsSupport senior accounting staff and management with accurate, timely dataTechnical Skills RequiredWorking knowledge of Tally / Tally Prime, Zoho Books, or QuickBooks; ERP exposure preferredGood MS Excel and basic MIS reporting skillsWorking knowledge of GST (including export of services), TDS, and statutory complianceBasic understanding of service/project-based revenue recognition and billingEducational Qualification• B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter or an equivalent accounting qualificationPreferred Industry ExperienceIT services or software development companiesSaaS or web/technology product companiesOther skilled or knowledge-services businessesSoft SkillsGood analytical and reconciliation abilityAttention to detail and accuracyGood communication and cross-functional coordination skillsAbility to manage deadlines and work with moderate supervisionKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Timeliness and accuracy of assigned book closure and MIS tasksAccuracy and turnaround of reconciliations (bank, vendor, GST)Timely, error-free client billing and revenue recognitionTimely support for GST/TDS filing with minimal errorsAudit observations closed within agreed timelinesSalary / CTCAs per industry standards / to be discussed
