- Developing and Implementing Programs: ICNs create and implement infection control policies and procedures, ensuring they align with best practices and regulations.
- Surveillance and Monitoring: They track and analyse infection rates, identify trends, and investigate potential outbreaks to implement timely interventions.
- Education and Training: ICNs educate healthcare staff, patients, and visitors on infection prevention and control measures, including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Outbreak Management:They play a critical role in responding to and managing outbreaks of infectious diseases, working to contain the spread and minimise patient harm.
- Collaboration and Consultation: ICNs collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses,



and infection control specialists, to provide comprehensive care and promote a safe workplace.
- Policy and Procedure Development:They contribute to the development and review of infection control policies and procedures, ensuring they are evidence-based and effectively implemented.
- Data Collection and Analysis: ICNs collect and analyse data related to infection control, contributing to the improvement of infection prevention strategies.
