JOB DESCRIPTION – HOSTEL COOK

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and responsible Hostel Cook to prepare healthy, hygienic, and nutritious meals for students and staff residing in the hostel. The candidate should maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and ensure timely preparation of meals.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner as per the hostel schedule.
- Prepare Kerala/Indian-style meals according to the requirements of students and staff.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and cleanliness.
- Plan daily menus and manage food preparation efficiently.
- Check the quality and freshness of vegetables, groceries, meat, and other ingredients.
- Maintain proper storage of food items and kitchen supplies.
- Keep the kitchen, cooking equipment, utensils, and work areas clean and organized.
- Minimize food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the management when supplies need to be replenished.




- Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Cooperate with hostel management and staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

- Previous experience as a Cook, preferably in a hostel, residential facility, hotel, or similar environment.
- Good knowledge of Indian and Kerala cuisine.
- Ability to prepare meals for a larger group of people.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and kitchen hygiene.
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Responsible, punctual, and hardworking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

- Experience working in a hostel or educational institution.
- Ability to prepare both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
- Immediate joiners may be preferred.

Salary

Salary: Negotiable, based on experience and skills.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
