Piping Engineer – Oil & Gas / EPC ( Mulund, Mumbai )

We are hiring a Piping Engineer for Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical and EPC projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for piping engineering and design activities from FEED through detailed engineering, construction support and project close-out.

The position requires strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, piping design, P&IDs;, piping materials, layouts, piping classes, line lists, isometrics, MTOs, 3D model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities

- Review project scope, design basis, client specifications, codes and standards.
- Prepare and review Piping Design Basis, PMS and Valve Material Specifications.
- Develop and review P&IDs;, equipment layouts, plot plans and piping layouts.
- Prepare line lists, tie-in lists, valve lists and special-item lists.
- Perform pipe sizing and select piping materials, pressure classes and corrosion allowances.
- Prepare piping material requisitions, technical specifications and MTOs.
- Review piping isometrics, GA drawings and piping support drawings.
- Identify stress-critical lines and coordinate piping stress-analysis activities.
- Review stress reports, nozzle loads, supports and flexibility recommendations.
- Coordinate equipment nozzle orientation and piping interfaces.
- Review piping arrangements around pumps, compressors, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers and packaged equipment.
- Ensure piping layouts meet operational, maintenance, safety, accessibility and constructability requirements.
- Perform piping studies for pipe racks, process units, tank farms, utilities, loading/unloading facilities and offsites.




- Develop tie-in philosophy and coordinate brownfield modifications and shutdown requirements.
- Review vendor drawings and documents related to piping interfaces.
- Prepare technical bid evaluations and respond to vendor technical queries.
- Participate in 30%, 60% and 90% 3D model reviews.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, constructability and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Pipeline, Electrical, Instrumentation, HSE and Project teams.
- Review piping deliverables for technical compliance, quality and schedule.
- Resolve site queries, technical queries and construction-related piping issues.
- Support as-built drawings and project close-out documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, EPC or Engineering Consultancy projects.
- Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 and piping engineering practices.
- Experience with FEED and/or detailed engineering projects.
- Experience reviewing P&IDs; and developing piping layouts.
- Knowledge of PMS, piping classes, line lists, isometrics and MTOs.
- Experience with 3D model reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Understanding of piping stress requirements and coordination with stress engineers.
- Positive knowledge of equipment piping arrangements and constructability requirements.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
