Label Applicator Machine Operator – Skanem

Job Purpose

Responsible for operating, setting, monitoring, and maintaining the Skanem automatic label applicator machine used for accurate application of adhesive labels on products/containers. The role ensures consistent label placement, machine efficiency, product quality, and compliance with production and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate the Skanem label applicator machine for automatic adhesive label application.
- Set up the machine according to product specifications, label size, container dimensions, and production requirements.
- Load and align adhesive label rolls correctly and ensure proper label feeding and web tension.
- Adjust applicator settings including conveyor speed, label dispensing, sensor position, product spacing, and label placement.
- Conduct machine changeovers when changing products, label sizes, or formats.
- Monitor label application continuously to ensure correct positioning, alignment, adhesion, and appearance.
- Identify and correct common problems such as label wrinkles, bubbles, skewed labels, double labels, missed labels, poor adhesion, and label-feed issues.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and basic preventive maintenance of the machine.
- Check and maintain applicator components such as rollers, sensors, dispensing plates, belts, guides, and label-feed mechanisms.
- Carry out quality checks during production and segregate products with incorrect or defective labels.
- Maintain accurate production, rejection, downtime, and machine-setting records.
- Coordinate with production, quality-control, maintenance, and warehouse teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety procedures, and GMP/quality requirements where applicable.




- Ensure proper handling and storage of adhesive label rolls to prevent damage and contamination.
- Report machine faults, recurring defects, and maintenance requirements to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area around the labelling machine.
- Support troubleshooting and machine optimization to improve productivity and reduce label wastage.

Required Skills

- Experience operating automatic or semi-automatic label applicator machines.
- Knowledge of adhesive pressure-sensitive label application.
- Understanding of machine settings, sensors, conveyors, label-feed systems, and product positioning.
- Ability to perform machine changeovers and basic troubleshooting.
- Valuable understanding of quality-control requirements for label placement and appearance.
- Basic mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to read and follow machine operating instructions and SOPs.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify labeling defects quickly.
- Basic documentation and record-keeping skills.

Preferred Experience

- 2–5 years of experience operating industrial labeling or packaging machinery.
- Experience with Skanem or similar automatic label applicator equipment is preferred.
- Experience in FMCG, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food & beverage, chemicals, or other high-speed packaging environments is an advantage.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
