Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Producer to help lead editorial planning, coverage and content production across India and the wider region. The role will work closely with senior editors, reporters, producers and stakeholders to deliver high-impact, distinctive and cutting-edge journalism across digital, social and other platforms. This is a hands-on editorial leadership role requiring strong news judgement, excellent planning and coordination skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving media environment.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

- Editorial leadership and planning: Work closely with senior editors to ensure stories from India and around the world are ideated, planned, covered in an innovative, relevant and cost-effective way. Successful candidate needs to sign-off on digital, text and video stories and demonstrate strong experience in coordinating, planning, guiding and delivering high-impact content and coverage.

- Deployment & Risk Management:



Plan and manage deployments, including risk assessments, budgets and staff safety, particularly in high-risk or challenging environments.

- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with stakeholders like teams in London and beyond, BBC India, South Asia and Indian languages and demonstrate effective negotiation and communication skills.

- Team Leadership: Manage, guide and motivate teams effectively, including in challenging and high-pressure environments.

- Innovation: Help develop and promote new ways of working that respond to the rapidly changing media environment.

- Hands-on Production: This is a hands-on role, requiring you to write and sub-edit major stories and support or oversee digital video production when required.

- Editorial Meetings: Lead and organise editorial meetings in a structured, effective and collaborative manner.
