Backend Engineer – AI Training & Evaluation

Job Summary

We are looking for experienced Backend Engineers to work on projects that help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems.

In this role, you will use your software engineering expertise to create realistic and challenging coding problems for AI models, implement solutions, develop deterministic verification mechanisms, and evaluate whether generated solutions correctly satisfy the requirements.

This is a great opportunity for engineers who enjoy backend development, debugging, code quality, testing, problem-solving, and working with complex software systems.

Prior AI/ML experience is not required. Your software engineering and domain expertise are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities

- Design realistic and challenging backend coding tasks involving feature implementation and bug fixing.
- Work with existing codebases to implement features, fix defects, and improve functionality.
- Develop deterministic verifiers/test suites that accept valid solutions and reject incorrect implementations.
- Analyze and debug complex software issues.
- Review code for correctness, reliability, maintainability, security, and performance.
- Identify edge cases and develop comprehensive automated tests.
- Work with APIs, scalable services, and backend systems.
- Refactor existing code and improve software quality where required.
- Apply strong software engineering and problem-solving judgment to evaluate AI-generated solutions.
- Produce clear technical documentation and task specifications.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong backend development experience in one or more of:
- Java
- Node.js
- TypeScript
- Python
- Go
- Rust
- C++
- or similar programming languages




- Experience building scalable backend services and APIs.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with automated testing and test-driven development.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and code quality.
- Valuable code review and code analysis skills.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and fundamental computer science concepts.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.

Cybersecurity / SecOps Experience – Preferred

Candidates with cybersecurity or security engineering experience are highly preferred.

Relevant experience includes:

- Secure coding and application security
- OWASP / CWE
- Vulnerability assessment
- Penetration testing
- Security code reviews
- Threat modeling
- Security testing
- Application security
- DevSecOps / SecOps
- Identifying and fixing security vulnerabilities

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working on large-scale or production-grade applications.
- Experience implementing complex features in existing codebases.
- Experience with software refactoring and performance optimization.
- Strong experience identifying software bugs, bottlenecks, and edge cases.
- Experience designing robust automated test suites.
- Experience reviewing or evaluating code written by other engineers.
- Cybersecurity, AppSec, or penetration-testing background.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.




- Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases quickly.

Selection Process

2. Complete an AI-based interview — approximately 30 minutes.
3. Complete a technical assessment, if applicable.
4. Hiring Manager review.
5. Selected candidates complete onboarding and begin project work.

Compensation

Compensation is output-based. Experts are paid per completed task that meets the applicable project specifications and quality requirements.

The time required to complete a task may vary depending on the complexity of the task, experience level, and individual workflow.

Minimum submission requirements may apply, including a minimum number of completed tasks per week.

Start Timeline & Availability

We are looking for engineers who can start quickly.

Selected candidates should be prepared to begin their first tasks within 24–48 hours after completing onboarding.
