Job Description – Design & Development Engineer | Upholstery Company: Wakefit Innovations Limited Function: Design & Engineering – Furniture Location: Hosur, Tamil Nadu Experience: 6+ Years Role: Design & Development Engineer Role Role Summary We are looking for a Design & Development Engineer with robust upholstery experience to join our Furniture Design & Engineering team in Hosur. The role will focus on developing upholstered furniture products from concept to production , combining design thinking, engineering fundamentals and hands-on knowledge of upholstery construction, materials and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate should understand how upholstered furniture is designed, engineered, prototyped and mass-manufactured , while working closely with manufacturing, sourcing, quality and other cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Product Design & Development Develop upholstered furniture products from concept to production . Create and refine product designs considering functionality, comfort, aesthetics, durability and manufacturability.



Develop 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings using SolidWorks . Translate design concepts into production-ready engineering solutions. Upholstery Engineering Strong understanding of upholstery construction, foam, fabric/leather, webbing, stitching, frames and cushioning systems . Develop upholstery specifications, construction details and manufacturing methods. Work on sofas, chairs, beds and other upholstered furniture . Optimize designs for comfort, durability, material utilization and ease of manufacturing. Troubleshoot design and production issues related to upholstery construction. Prototyping & Production Work closely with prototype teams to develop and validate new products. Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from prototypes and production trials.
