Job Duties A Core Tax professional is responsible for utilizing research skills, applying tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gathering BDO USA client information necessary for filing, participating in tax planning, recognizing and communicating potential risks, preparing tax accrual workpapers and working with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review. In this role, the Tax Senior Associate will act as the main BDO USA client contact for general questions and information and may be charged with supervising and reviewing the work of Core Tax Services Associates.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesQualifications

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or another relevant field required
- Master's degree in accounting beneficial, master's degree in taxation preferred

Experience

- 5 to 7 years of prior experience in working on Form 1040 (High Net Worth Individuals)



with exposure to multi state filings.
- Prior experience in working on K-1's, Form 1040 (HNI), 1041, Gift Tax Return, Form 990
- Proficient in K-1 reclassifications (Hedge Funds) and sale of PTP K-1's
- Experience in foreign forms- Form 926, FBAR, Form 8621 and Form 8938.
- Review and oversee preparation of complex U.S. individual tax returns (Form 1040, 1041, Gift tax), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Communicate directly with U.S. engagement teams to coordinate deliverables and resolve tax technical and other issues.
- Assist in responding to IRS notices and audits, coordinating with engagement teams.
- Prior basic supervisory experience preferred
- Understanding of financial statements and the underlying supporting workpapers
- Drive process improvements and ensure best practices in tax compliance and documentation.
- Manage and develop a team of tax associates and seniors, providing coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to enhance performance and career growth.
- CPA, EA would be added advantage

Software

- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience in all tax compliance process software including GoSystemRS, SurePrep and CCH, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers
