nRole Overview

nThe Montessori Toddler Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for toddlers (1.5 - 3 years). The role involves providing attentive childcare, planning age-appropriate activities, observing children’s development, maintaining accurate records, and building positive relationships with parents.

nKey Responsibilities

- Provide warm, attentive care and ensure children’s safety, hygiene, comfort, and wellbeing.
n
- Prepare and maintain an orderly Montessori workplace suitable for toddlers.
n
- Plan and conduct activities that support independence, movement, language, social development, and creativity.
n
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, routines, activities, observations, milestones, and incidents.
n

nParent Communication

- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s daily experiences, routines, and wellbeing.
n
- Share observations and developmental progress in a clear and professional manner.
n
- Listen to parents’ concerns and respond with sensitivity and respect.
n
- Maintain confidentiality and record important parent communications appropriately.

nDocumentation and Assessment

- Observe each child regularly across different areas of development.
n
- Record individual interests, abilities, progress, and emerging needs.

- Use observations to plan suitable follow-up activities and support.
n
- Prepare progress updates and reports as required by the school.

nTeamwork and Professional Duties

- Work collaboratively with teachers, assistants, coordinators, and other school staff.

- Follow the school’s safeguarding, health, safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures.

- Participate in staff meetings, training, parent meetings, and school events.

nQualifications and Skills

nMandatory

n

- Diploma or degree in Montessori Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
n
- 1-3 years experience working with toddlers, preferably in a Montessori setting.
n
- Good understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate activities.
n
- Patient, organised, observant, nurturing, and able to communicate effectively with children and parents.
n
- High level of empathy and emotional intelligence
n
- Collaborative and aligned with the values of TSJA

- Strong understanding of child psychology and foundational pedagogy
